Book Review - Night Chills

I just wanted to share with you all the review of a book that I recently read.

Night Chills, authored by Dean Koontz, is a story so cynical, that it could dig deep into the minds of its readers, a sense of panic, if the element of horror could be actually turned into a reality.

Salsbury, a noted researcher, makes a big medical breakthrough by finding a drug that would take control of human subconscious mind through series of key-lock programs and subliminal (subconsious) advertising. When the subconscious mind is programmed to be opened, it can dare to do any act like deadly killings, grotesque attacks and even suicides, all unaware, with a simple manipulation of the mind.

Salsbury, along with his accomplice, a Business tycoon and an Army General are determined to rule the world as they are now, in possession of absolute power, the power of human mind control, the power which when misused, could be too ruthless & destroying...

Their first target is Black River.

Black River, a very peaceful city, with a small population, offering serene life for its occupants & a highly connected community, would be the most peaceful place to live, atleast it seemed so, until one day the place was hit by a unexplainable epidemic, with people getting suddenly sick, tired and getting regular night chills.

Paul ,a widower & father of Rya and Mark and Sam, the father of Jenny, Paul's girlfriend, are the only local families of Black River, that seem unaffected by the epidemic & Salsbury with his steadfast resolve , is knocking every doors and gaining control of every person in the town by ways uncomprehendable. As a result, innocent women become vulnerable to sexual attacks, children brutally assaulted and law & order become a silent witness to all crimes. Will Paul and his duo be able to stop him on time and save themselves from the peril that has been stalking them stealthily.

Night Chills, is truly entertaining and is definitely a page-turner. It hooks on the reader to it and leaves a big impact on the reader's mind for a very long time, even after the book is finished.

The novel's engrossing touch is in the way the author has juxtaposed the present and the past. The turn of events are so unpredictable & that's what makes the book even more inevitable. The crude ruthlessness of the helpless victims, certainly causes poignant anxiety into the minds of the readers.

For book lovers, who are in search of an unputdownable book, Night Chills is the right choice and it is sure to cause night chills for its readers, after they are done with the book.
