I stumbled upon this treasure at the recent Delhi Book Fair. William Dalyrimple's book looks at the last days of the poet emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar. The book looks at the complex nature of the 1857 revolt and the changing relationship between the British and their Indian subjects in the 19th century. A book with depth that reads like a thriller. Enlightening and entertaining at the same time!

Aruna, I recommend it. It reads like a thriller with a host of interesting real life characters. And I dont find history books boring.
