That's exactly what I thought too, after reading @Hrastro's post. I was pondering on what it means when none of our own characters crossed my mind as soon as I thought about this thread and lamenting about it.

Thanks for sharing your list @Guesshoo. I was eager to know your favorites. I haven't heard of the author but thanks to you and Priya, I am going to check and get a book of her. Same with Dagny Taggart too, many have mentioned her here.

@Butterflylice and @Kitty89 thanks for sharing your favorites. While I know some, I don't know the other characters you have mentioned. Will look them up.

yep sometimes we all need a little prodding to make us realize the value of things we have been having but have refused to acknowledge or rather didn't bother to acknowledge ... :)

Ladies, many books and characters come to my mind. But I have to be honest, the book that has left an imprint on my mind is "A Thousand Splendid Suns" and Mariam in particular followed by Laila. Mariam's portrayal was intense to me personally, leaves me with a lot of questions and answers as well in a way.

I think the main characters in "Shantaram" were really good. Prabaker was very entertaining. Always said something clever with a hint of humor.

It is the character that has touched my heart in the deepest way. Sometimes I start laughing when think of his funny lines. Haha.

    That was a good book.

It can definitely put you in a state where you start questioning everything.
