    Hello,

I thought I would start a new thread for books for women, popularly known as 'chick lit'. These are humourous, fast paced books usually on the life of a single girl and make for time pass reading. Some authors in this genre are:

Sophie Kinsella (her 'shopaholic' series are good)
    Meg Cabot
    Sue Margolis
    Jennifer Weiner

looking forward to a lively discussion on this topic

Nice thread. I think it should have started with bridget jones diaries in the 90's.
Helen fielding - Bridget jones diaries, overactive imagination.
Jennifer Weiner - Good in bed-
Jane Green - straight talking , the other woman ,swapping lives

    Let the list continue...........

    Hi,

New mwmber here. I have read Sophi and find her very amusing. Has anyone also read Catherine Allison, she is also quite good. She may appeal to the married and little older women. Some interesting prespectives there.

    Cheers Prasantha

    Hi Mythraeyi,

I'm sooo glad to have found this topic. I have read some of the books in Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series. They're breezy and fun reads. Jennifer Weiner's Good in Bed and In Her Shoes are good too.

May I also suggest Marian Keyes and Cecelia Ahern? These authors are both from Ireland. For Marian Keyes, I can vouch for Last Chance Saloon and Anybody Out There.

For Cecelia Ahern, I strongly strongly recommend Where Rainbows End (the title of this book varies, depending on where the book is released. In some copies, the title is Love, Rosie or Rosie Dunne. Please don't be confused for these are all the same books).

I am absolutely IN LOVE with Where Rainbows End! I would like to give a summary but I am afraid of spoiling your reading pleasure. Anyway, this book is a gem! It touched me to the core and I cried after reading it. Haha what a silly romantic I am! :)

    Shanvy,

How did you like Jane Green's books? I've never read any of her works.

    To all,

May I add Kate Kerrigan's Recipe for A Perfect Marriage to the list? She's not that famous an author (at least not yet), but I'm glad that I gave her book a chance.

    I love Jane Greene's books.
Full of humour in a feminine view. I giggle from the first till last page as I read and some of her views are thought provoking too.
Shan have you read "The other woman " and Mr May be. Oh god..her master pieces, I would say. I :rotfl reading 'the other woman".
I also like Marian Keyes- watermelon.
