Default Arthritis – How common is it?

Hi, I want to know if Arthritis is a very common ailment in the old age. Do you have any of your family members with Arthritis? Are they men or women? How much do they suffer? What are you doing about them? Please let me know, because I need to get o the bottom of this!

I have my grand mother (my dad’s mom) with severe Arthritis, a bit over weight and suffers terribly! It is hard to see her. And now I have my MIL. She took Ayurvedic medicine and later went for Physical Therapy but still no improvement. She is not ready (fear) and no eligible (high BP and other stuff) for a surgery. My husband is very worried about her and constantly researches about stem cell research and other new technology for Arthritis. Though stem cell treatment is being done in China and else where, it is not common and not available for common man.

Please put any of your thoughts here, if your life has been touched by Arthritis in any way. Thank You.
