Home Remedies for Hair Removal - Natural Way to Remove Hair

We spend more time on our hair than on any other portion of our body. We do several procedures to make them look beautiful and healthy. Many of us have too little hair, others have too much in the wrong places. Ingrown hairs are also common around the upper, inner thigh.

Excessive hair growth on the face is particularly troublesome to some women. This may be the result of some hormonal disturbances. Tumors arising in the ovaries, adrenal glands and other endocrine organs have sometimes contributed to this problem. But in most neither cases there is nor specific cause for excessive growth of hair. Hair growth is directly related to estrogen levels, hormones and ancestry.

In today's society facial and body hair have become increasingly unwelcome. These unwanted hairs disturbs the beauty of the women. They have become curious to remove them. There are many procedures for the removal of these unwanted hairs.

Excessive hair on the face can be removed by electrolysis, but this is a tedious and somewhat expensive process. Laser is normally a permanent method of hair removal, although there are no 100% guarantees. It doesn't work very well on darker skins or on lighter hair. Essentially the hair that responds best to laser treatment is dark, thick hair on lighter skin.

    HOME REMEDIES FOR HAIR REMOVAL

The simplest method is to shave the unwanted hair off as often as necessary, perhaps once or twice or week.

Apply a mixture of besan and haldi (turmeric) with a little water, to face. When it dries, gently rub off. This will remove excessive facial hair. This is one of the useful home remedies for hair removal.

The technique of waxing hair removal is also very effective. In this technique apply wax with a butter knife on the hairy area, press down with a cellophane paper or cloth strip, and yank it off in the direction opposite to hair growth. Waxing will also make hair grow out thicker, but the growth will reduce in the long run if you keep waxing regularly.

Plucking also helps in the removal of hair. Pluck them once or twice a week.

Bleaching can also help to remove the facial hair.

Prepare a mixture by adding haldi, besan and some curd and apply to the face. It is an effective remedy for the removal of facial hair.

Simply wash your face twice a day with a face wash, and follow up with a toner. Apply a moisturizer after shaving. This is an effective home remedy for hair removal.

Add a little haldi to the gram flour and water. The hair will come out.

Try plucking out the hair with a pair of tweezers.

Prepare a paste by adding a tablespoon of besan with a few pinches of haldi and a little malai and apply to the face. One of the useful home remedies for hair removal.
Lemon is natural bleach, so apply that with an equal amount of honey and leave on for ten to fifteen minutes. Do this everyday.

When bathing, apply soap and scrub your hands and legs gently with a pumice stone everyday. This will take some time, but with patience your hair will gradually reduce and diminish.

Mix lemon, sugar, and honey in a bowl. Microwave on high for about 2-3 minutes, until it bubbles into a smooth consistency. Spread a thin layer on your leg. Cover with a strip of fabric, and rubbing the strip the opposite way of hair growth, about 3 times. Grab the fabric end and pull it off very quickly against the direction of the hair growth.
This is an effective home remedy for hair removal.

A healthy lifestyle supplemented with proper diet is the magic key for healthy and beautiful hair.

Sandpaper is also effective for the removal of unwanted hairs.

Wash the ingrown hair area twice a day with a Panoxyl bar, an antibacterial soap of 10 percent benzoyl peroxide found at your local drugstore. This is one of the best home remedies for hair removal.

Apply an over-the-counter hydrocortisone preparation such as Cortaid around the ingrown hair according to package directions.

If ingrown hairs are inflamed and infected, change your razor blade each time you shave until the ingrown hair is gone.

Facial & Body Hair Removal including underarms

Remove your hair on face and body including underarms by the following

1.....Apply a mask of a paste made of sugar, lemon and water in the direction of hair growth.
Rinse after 10-15 minutes. Apply twice a week.

2.....Apply a mask of a mixture of 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice and 4 teaspoons honey in the direction of hair growth. Rinse after 10-15 minutes. Apply twice a week.

3....To turn hair golden brown, apply before bedtime a paste of 2 teaspoon fresh lime juice and ½ teaspoon sugar, 3-4 times a week for 2 months.

4......Mix turmeric powder with milk and apply on the face. Scrub it off slowly moving your fingers in circular motion, and then wash with cold water.

5......Blend one egg white with 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1/2 tablespoon of corn flour until it becomes a sticky paste. Apply the mixture to your face. When it dries gently peel it off.

Repeat this 3-4 times a week.

    For Legs hair removal:

Mix well ground white pepper with camphor and a few drops of kerosene. Apply on the legs and leave for a 10-15 minutes. The hair will fall off.

    Body hair removal:

    Body Sugaring

How to make Sugaring Solution at Home?

Take ¼ cup of water, 2 cup sugar and ¼ cup lemon juice in a pan and heat (or Microwave) on a medium heat until it bubbles up into a smooth consistency. Let the solution cool down to warm condition, a temperature you can touch it. Application for Removing Hair:

Dust with some cornstarch or plain flour to absorb body oil. Spread a thin layer of the sugaring solution on your skin in the direction of the hair. Then press 1 to 1¼ inch wide cotton cloth strips, rub your hand on the strip and wait. When the solution cools down and hardens, pull the cloth away quickly in the opposite direction of your hair growth. It will be slight painful, but tolerable. Repeat it 2-3 times.

The unused solution can be stored in an airtight container which can be put in hot water to melt it when yoiu want to use it next time.

    Hair Removal on a Child

Apply a besan (gram flour, chana flour) haldi - turmeric powder paste. Take 75% besan and 25% haldi. i.e. for 3 tsp of besan mix 1 tsp of haldi. Both the ingredients are available from Indian grocery stores.

After sometime when it starts to dry, scrub it off gently. This would gradually reduce body hair over a period of time.

It is not possible to give an exact time for hair to vanish. In some parts of India, this is done for about 1.5 months to new born babies on whole body and they are almost hairless.

Massage the baby with almond oil or any other oil.

(Note: You can use besan haldi paste and oil or wheat flour and ghee paste massage for
even a new born child for 2-3 months, every alternate day. If the baby has too much hair, they will vanish over a period of time.)

Other Solutions for Facial and Body Hair Treatment

    Waxing

Waxing is the easiest and most convenient way for removing hair and can be done at home with ease. Waxing pulls the hair out from below the top layer of skin and leaves your skin smooth. In waxing, a thin layer of melted wax is applied to the skin in the direction of the hair growth. The wax is then pulled off quickly in the opposite direction of the hair growth, taking the hair with it.

In the sugar form of waxing, sugar is used instead of wax to get rid of teh hair from face and body. Sugaring is easier to apply and easier to cleanup the mess.

    Tweezing and threading

Tweezing and threading are considered to be the safest method of removal of unwanted hair but these are extremely time-consuming.. Tweeze eyebrows using a sharp, clean pair of tweezers. Place a warm damp cloth over the brows for 5-10 minutes before plucking to soften the area or tweeze immediately after shower.

    Bleaching:

Bleaching is a good option if the hair is dark but not dense like those on the upper lip or other parts of the face, neck and arms. There are many options for facial bleach products at the drugstore or on the Internet.

Mix six per cent hydrogen peroxide with household ammonia or ammonia water. For each 10 drops of ammonia mix 15 gram of peroxide apply immediately after mixing. Leave it for 20-30 minutes. If the result of first application is not satisfactory, repeat it the next day.

    Shaving

Shaving is mostly used for legs and bikini line, but the hair grows back too fast after shaving. Also the skin becomes red after shaving or even red bumps can develop. You can use a shaving gel for sensitive skin and apply a solution containing 1 or 2 aspirins in 1/4 cup water with cotton. The anti-inflammatory properties of aspirin cures the redness or red bumps even when applied to the surface of skin.

You should never shave on dry hair. Wet hair is soft and easier to cut. It is myth that shaving increases the rate of growth of hair. Note that shaving does not change the texture, color, rate of hair growth and hair density which depend on hormones.

    Depilatories

Depilatories use calcium hydroxide and sodium or calcium thioglycolate which dissolve hair. But it involves severe irritation and/or burns to the skin and eyes for some people. Therefore, depilatories should never be used for eyebrows and on broken skin. First test the depilatory on your arm to check for allergic reactions. Hair comes back in a few days after application because depilatories remove the hair on the surface.

    Electrolysis

Electrolysis use electric current to remove hair. Electrolysis is considered a permanent hair removal method because this technique destroys the hair follicle. The technique, however, needs repeats and thus costly.

There are two types of electrolysis devices are in use: the needle epilator and the tweezer epilator. The major risks of using electrolysis include electrical shock, infection from a non-sterile needle and scarring caused by improper technique.

Home electrolysis kits are also available. But because these use very low voltage, they are not very effective.

    Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is superior to other forms of hair removal but is not permanent and it can include skin discoloration (either darkening or lightening of skin), swelling, inflammation and infected hair follicles

Turmeric is something which suits a definite set of people. When I used it I got large number of pimples on my face. So do quote in the suggestions that it might be effective on only some people .Wax on the other hand is effective.

Hair loss can be treated by massaging the scalp a couple of minutes daily, doing this will stimulate the flow of blood to the hair follicles. If you can afford it, you can get an electric massager in the market, there are several brands of massagers to choose from.

when talking of hair removal everyone says turmeric.
My mother put lots of turmeric on my skin, from the time i was baby and till the age she was giving me bath. But still, as a teenage girl, i got unwanted hair. I always joke to Mother that she wasted so much time and money on turmeric.:)
According to my doctor, unwanted hair is from different causes like genetic, uterus and ovary disorders , harmones and thyroid problem. Only way is to keep removing by different methods suited to you. Theres one cream named EFLORA, costing Rs.500 for one medium tube. You have to apply it after waxing or threading. It prevents quick regrowing .

Spot on Swarna. Also too much application of turmeric is not good for skin. Even my mom tried turmeric on my skin to reduce hair growth - nothing worked. My oily skin turned into a dry one. Best hair removal method is WAXING.

Swarna, where did you get that Eflora cream in Chennai???
