    Hi,
What's the difference b/w hot wax and cold wax? I believe we get it separately in shops. Which is good for removing hairs? Also, is it good to use homemade wax or should I go for branded ones?Pls shed some light on this.

    Hi,
Cold wax: You no need to heat it. You can apply directly. But it'll be sticky and you'll get pain while applying.
Hot Wax: You have to heat the wax. And then you can apply it without any pain.
Both the waxes are good. But Hot wax is better than cold wax.
You can use homemade wax too. Its not necessary to go behind the branded ones.

Choosing Between the Hot and Cold Wax Methods

There are many advantages and disadvantages to each wax hair removal method.

    • Hot wax usually adheres to unwanted hair better and offers more effective hair removal. Cold wax doesn't stick to hair as well, but it is less messy and doesn't leave behind as much wax as the hot method.

    • Cold wax is also easier to use than hot wax. The cold wax strips come in a variety of sizes making eyebrow hair removal as easy as leg hair removal. Hot wax, on the other hand, must be applied with a stick or other utensil, making small areas such as eyebrows or upper lips harder to treat.

    • Finally, the cold wax method is less painful upon removal (since it doesn't adhere to the skin as strongly), but sometimes needs to be applied repeatedly to get the best results. This repeated usage can result in skin irritation, ingrown hairs, and painful red bumps. Hot wax is more painful upon removal (since the hardened wax can stick to the skin as well as the hair) but it does not usually need to be repeated. However, although it does not need repeated, the wax can remove surface skin resulting in irritation, redness, and pain.

    • No matter which wax hair removal method you choose you should never apply wax to irritated, sunburned, or infected skin. You should also avoid the use of hot tubs, swimming pools, lotions, and perfumed (which can further irritate painful skin) for at least one day after waxing. And finally, you should never over heat hot wax since it can burn the skin.
Veet and Sally Hansen....these are good brands...

    Regards...:)

How does waxing hair removal work?

Waxing is done by spreading a thin layer of wax over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is pressed over it and then ripped off with a swift movement, pulling away the wax along with the hair and leaving the skin smooth. There are a few different types of waxing treatment: hot wax is very effective at removing even thick and curly hair; cool wax can be a bit sticky and therefore not quite as effective, but is gentler to the skin. Sugaring sugaring is often considered as a form of waxing because the method is similar, but instead of using wax, a sticky, sugary paste is applied – however, it’s not hot and doesn’t stick to the skin as much as wax does.

During the procedure, the wax will be spread on your skin in small areas (larger areas if you’re having your legs, back or chest done), with a spatula. Then, a paper or cloth strip will be put on and ripped off in the opposite direction to your hair growth, removing the wax with the hair with it.

What is the difference between a hot wax and cold wax treatment?

Hot waxes melt just above body temperature so they can be spread in a thin layer over the hairy area. When they harden the hair gets trapped in the wax so it is pulled with the roots when the wax is ripped off. Cold waxes can be used on pre-coated strips which can be pressed directly onto the skin. The hair sticks to the wax and is then removed with by pulling it off in a rapid movement.

What is the effect of waxing on the skin?

A side benefit of waxing is that it removes dead skin cells and as a result the skin can feel quite smooth after the treatment. However waxing can be uncomfortable you may want to use a healing lotion or cream to soothe the skin. Other uncomfortable side effects include red bumps, and minor bleeding. This is more likely to occur when waxing areas with thick hair, especially the first few times when follicles are strongest.

What are the benefits of waxing versus other hair removal methods?

Hair waxing is an effective method to remove large amounts of hair at one time. It is a long-lasting method. Hair in waxed areas will not grow back for 2-8 weeks. When you shave or use a depilatory cream, the hair is removed at the surface rather leaving the root intact. After a few days, the hair starts to grow back, and is usually thick and strong. On the other hand, if waxing is used regularly, the hair that grows back tends to be much softer.

    What are the drawbacks?

Let’s face it, waxing can be really painful when the strip is pulled from the skin. Although the pain is short-lasting, it can be very uncomfortable.

It is also not the cheapest option. It is usually performed by a licensed cosmetologist, and the cost can be very high. Some people claim that waxing is cheaper than laser hair removal, but we’re not sure how that is correct. Upfront costs of laser hair removal may be more, but having fewer visits throughout the first year and then only one each year thereafter helps in the long run.

There are do-it-yourself waxing supplies, but they may be difficult to use on oneself on some areas on the body. Also, hair removal with waxing is not permanent. When removed against the direction of hair growth, the wax strip may disturb hair follicles, causing hair to begin to grow in different directions, making it more noticeable. Fortunately, this risk is small if the waxing is performed properly.

    What about ingrown hairs?

While usually impossible to eliminate, ingrown hairs can be reduced by regularly exfoliating, and applying an astringent or a solution of both astringent and oil (such as baby or azulene oil).

What about health precautions to keep in mind with waxing hair removal?

Some doctors do not recommend hair waxing for people with diabetes, varicose veins or poor circulation as they may be more prone to infection. If you take medications that tend to weaken the skin, such as acne medication Retin-A or Accutane, you will should not use hair wax on your face as tearing of the skin may occur when the wax is removed. Hair waxing should not be performed on skin affected by acne, lesions, pimples, moles or or on skin that is irritated or suffering from sunburn. You should not apply wax to peeling, broken skin or varicose veins. Never apply wax to the nipples when removing hair from the breast area.

    Where can wax be used?

You should perform a skin test on a small area first, but generally waxing can be used safely on most parts of the body. The exceptions are nipples, the male genitals, inside the ears and nose, and eyelids.

What can be done to minimize the pain and discomfort?

An easy method to ease the discomfort is to press hard on the skin instantly after the waxing strip is ripped off. This should be done INSTANTLY after the strip is pulled off. Also, rubbing an ice cube over the area can reduce the risk of swelling and skin irritation. Many experienced beauticians recommend that women schedule waxing appointments for the week after menstruation, when pain tolerance is generally at its highest.

    Is it for me?

If you have unwanted hair that you want to get rid of - be it on your legs, arms, chest, back, stomach, armpits, bikini line – then waxing offers a fast and convenient solution. You won’t get itchy re-growth as may be the case with shaving and hair will not grow back all at once. Of course, if your pain threshold is pretty low, you might want to try using wags on your legs first before you use it for bikini line or armpits – ouch!

    Conclusion

Depending on your level of skin sensitivity or ability to tolerate pain, texture of hair and rate of hair growth, waxing hair removal may be a viable option for you. Check out a good supplier for a the latest waxing products.

    Hi cha,
If so even the wax we buy in any shop also contain the same ingredient that we use for homemade one.
Even in many parlour they use homemade wax only. It differs from the ingredient you use.
