| | Hi Vandhana, Nice idea. I too think first 'pate pooja' and then 'Goody Bags" (vetrali pakku), Those will give the plesent memory of the particular party. In Tamil we used to say ' you can fill anybody's stomach but not heart'. So ..... |

| | Dear Vandhana, Good idea! I would love to read entries. You are the best person to start this. I am reminded here of all your help in my Rugby party on saturday evening. Your recipes for falafel and hummous worked well and I did not have any leftovers. Keep going ,ladies! |

| | Hi Chithra, Yes Menu planning is difficult , more so when Adults are involved. I find todays kids, planning for them is the easiest. You give them pizza at 3.00 am they will eat it happily! Thats what my next write up is going to be.. Any guesses what PIZZA stands for ?? Vandhana |

| | The word pizza is from an Old Italian word meaning "a point," which in turn became the Italian word "pizzicare," which means "to pinch" or "pluck." |

| | dear vandhana, i never had problem planning for menu in my house somehow i must say again touch wood all vanish and they carry the boxes home packed after party, which is becoming rare nowadays, what with grown up kids, and now each will settle in different places. If i dont call them they gate crash and spoil the fun we are unable to plan anything on the special day with just the family member here just like my siblings to dart in and out when they please.. i dont know to be happy or annoyed..sunkan |

| | Hi Sunkan, Thats great. Menu is a big problem for me. I propose and hubby disposes!! And so we play tug of war for a few days before reaching an agreement. I can understnad your feeling of those that gate crash. Its our endevour to be good hosts that causes us to get annoyed when some one comes un announced i guess. So i do plan a little extra for such people..... |

| | Dear Vandhana, great topic and I'm gonna be glued to this blog of yours cause, I'd like to learn to be a good host. parties are not just about food - to entertain those few hrs., arranging things (table, flowers, overall house to be kept clean and presentable), then the gifts, etc etc etc. It's a whole array of things we are talkin about. No wonder, birthday parties are more celebrated at Pizza huts & in hotels than at home, these days. Now with nuclear families, it's even difficult to attend to all corners. so, how do we go about???? where do we staart??? waiting to see this blog move further......... to planning & execution &...... |

| | Hello MumbaiAga, Mee ali parath.. tula shodath.. Dear Vandy, Hosting a party is not everybody cuppa. The creativity, the theme, the dress code, very important is the "INVITEES", you have to club the like minded people together, you cannot invite a couch potato for a dance party and vice versa. If you planning to have "give aways" another mind rocking issue. The menu combination, you cannot have Paneer Makhani , Paratha and Raitha. The combo should gel with the the complete list. The desert should not be heavy. The place should have good back up in case there is failure of electricity. The venue should be easily reachable. If you have invited people in their mid 40's and 50's you should take care of the floor of the venue.... In India, most of the party halls do not have lifts or elevators. They may have to climb the odd stairs with a weak bones.. We have to keep it in consideration. There should few good party crackers around.. to keep the show rolling. I can go on.. Hope My post is of some use.. |
