It was a pleasure to watch this movie on Valentine's Day.I bought it from the library for a few bucks in their gift shop. I can't imagine anyone who will donate it to the library and not want to keep it!

Life Is Beautiful is Roberto Benigni's delightfully funny and hauntingly beautiful WW11 romantic comedy, tragedy about love, and sacrifice.

The movie unfolds in two parts. In the first, Guido ( Benigni) is an Italian waiter who is courting a pretty schoolteacher Dora,...

Slumdog Millionaire

I saw this movie yesterday as it came with rave reviews in the local paper and was talked about in NPR ( National Public Radio).
For receiving such wide reviews, I was somewhat surprised that only one theater in town screened it. Anyway, the theater was packed.

In the movie, there were no big names except for Anil Kapoor and that too not in the lead role. There were quite a few gory details which made a few elderly westerners walk out in the beginning. It was refreshing to see...

Every year on the fourth of July, we have been going out to see the fireworks for the Independence celebration ever since we moved to the US. For the one or two years that we may have missed, we still stepped out into our backyard and caught a little bit of the fireworks display. This year we were so rapt watching "Taare Zameen Par" that we missed it. But we got the pleasure of watching a beautiful movie that gives the viewers to see into the world of a dyslexic child. The father of the...

Ratatouille

Ratatouille is one brilliantly delightful movie that I recently watched, although I am not too fond of rats. This movie will delight the young and the not so young viewers equally.
Remy, the rat who lives in Paris wants to be a chef . He gets separated by his family. Using a somewhat helpless young man who finds a job in a restaurant as a janitor, he practices his art. He has to face the evil manager and the hard to please food critic. The young man soon becomes a celebrity.
How I wish...

Blood Diamond

Updated 2nd December 2008 at 11:11 AM by sundarusha

I recently saw this movie on DVD as my son was working on a school project on Sierra Leone, a west African country.
The civil war is raging and the rebel forces are rendering millions homeless.
The movie begins with a fisherman and his family trying to live a peaceful life. The rebels raid his village, he is ripped from his family and forced to work with the rebels in the diamond fields under inhumane conditions. He finds a rare 100-carat diamond, and risks to hide it. Not out of greed...
