About switching channels…. :D
Most of us would have mastered the art of switching channels…
That too with most of the programmes on tv which either totally amuse us like the stupid game shows or other mega soaps which simply fail to sustain interest in them for more than 5 minutes, switching channels has become one of the major timepass, sitting in front of the tv..!!

Jus like the 'sms thumb' or the more recently coined 'i-pod finger' there should also be some name coined for this art!!
My everyday Channel switching process …. Here goes...
-> Witness a scene in some mega serial where a woman keeps running inside a hospital desperately seeking help from someone to protect her from Goondas who are chasing her… She runs to every floor of the hospital and there is a goonda who is hiding in every floor, who are waiting for the camera to focus them, and then act as if they are attacking the girl… Strictly one at a time….
Ugghhh!!!
*** Switch***
-> Some god forsaken game show where they ask 'How many roles did Kamalhasan play in the movie 'Michael Madana Kama Raja' and the person saying that he doesn’t know and asking for a clue.. And the host counting 4 in her fingers as she repeats 'Michael Madana Kama Raja' and the guy, with a sense of achievement saying FOUR!!!!!
Aaarrrrggghhh ***Switch***
-> Switch to a movie channel to find something good… And feel that only a person who has short term memory for 1-2 days will watch the same movie again and again…
For the 100th time….
***Switch***
-> One news channel where they focus people, who shout -"Everythign is because of the police… They didn’t control the crowd… The govt has to change.. " (You know which channel)
Huuhhhh *** Switch***
-> Another news where people scream - "The police did a great job Saar… it was the people's fault, solely.. They shudnt have rushed in like that.." (You know it is the opposition channel)
I know…. ***Switch***
-> Change for some interesting stuff of Discovery or History channel.. And you realize that you have seen that documentary SO MANY times that you can present the documentary even without the script … :p
****Switch***
-> NDTV news… hearing the same stuff for the 4th time in the 3rd news channel… :D but its ok… I can put up with this thing even for millions of years! :D
After 5 minutes...
***Switch***
-> Some movie in unidentified language
**Switch***
-> Detectives working on murder mystery.. 11:30pm show?!?!?! SCARY!! :(
**Switch**
-> New year light music programme shot 10-15 yrs back, re-telecast on DD..!!!! The people performing might have even quit their profession..! Who knows.. ;)
**Switch***
-> Some man claiming that he can heal and cure another guy's blindness, by prayer.. That too shouting at the top of his voice…
****Switch***
-> Mallika Sherawat….
***Switch!! ** ;)
-> Kolangal on suntv….
**Aagrrgghhh* switch before I see any 'god-sent-me-to-earth-to-do-amazing-sacrifices-in-every-episode' character!!!! ****

| | Sudha you have started with a bang rather.....switch. Really you are bringing a hilarious version to a mundane topic . Great ! This remote has become a reason for fights in most of the household. Atleast you get to hold the remote but in my case I am forced to watch what others watch. Remote will be held by mostly by elder daughter, sil or dh. The few hours we are in the house and we cannot see what we want because of switch....switch. |

| | Sudha, I am liking your posts. Very different topics and this one was a "Funny" narration. I used to do that in India all the time. It does wonders for eyes you know. With so many channels and sometimes nothing suitable to watch - It s an irony. Sometimes I end up liking 2 channels and use the "last channel watched" button on remote. In US they have this "Guide" button, where you can watch the current channel and browse through the shows on the rest and choose your favorite. However sometimes it's okay to note good shows and open TV only at those times, but when I get bored, I tend to switch on TV and clean the house etc. |

| | A very nice blog. I used to try out different flavours of switch. Without looking at the remote, jump to a particular channel by feeling the buttons (as lazy as I could get). Having my eyes closed and switching to specific channels and guess the program based on the voice ! See how creative we get with the quality of programs and how much time I had to kill then :) But when I tried the later recently, I was baffled since I thought I went to an english channel only to realize the host was talking in tamil to compere for a song that was coming by.. And even if the program is "sahic"able there are these marquee strips that run at the bottom of the screen with loads and loads of crappy personal messages which annoy me so much to ofcourse switch ! |

| | Quite hilarious. Great going . Keep it up! No wonder I had left watching TV years back for this reason. I find recorded shows much better. Atleast there is ready worthy substance, which can refresh mind. When I was in India last month, I too observed there are some twenty new channels. All are doing same dance shows sametime. End of creativity! Ria |

| | ha ha haHi Sudha, Ur posts are quite funny. The switch switch war with remote is a common thing in every household. I do exactly the same thing back home n get good scoldings from my father. he ll complain tht he s getting headache because of me switching so fast even before he can comprehend wat channel n wat programme. I will browse thru 60 to 70 channels in less than 20 mins n still cud nt find anythng worth watching. Regards, CC |

| | Hi Lalitha, Thanks! Glad that you liked it Hi Sunkan, Welcome! Just like tv time, nowadays there is computer time as well! :) Hi Meenloch, Thanks for the compliments. Leaving the tv on and doing some mundane work really helps. Otherwise it is really boring to do house work, if something is running in the background, even I dont realize the nature of work. :) Hi Gayu, "Sahicable" was very funny! :D And I agree, those messages really put me off! You feel so embarassed to watch it in front of elders too.. Hi ria, Thanks for dropping by. Dance and music shows with judges and crying and drama are a part of every channel now. TV channels know only to copy and htey totally lack creativity nowadays, Dear CC, Welcome here. Yeah the smae situation happens at my home too. At the end of it, nothing worth watching. Sorry all for the late reply. I have a ligament tear in my foot, and was not well.. |

| | Dearest Sudha ma'am, A topic that would create roars at home had been dealt in a very light fashion !! Claps !! Reading all the feedbacks, I felt mine would be totally a different scenario and will add on to your leader blog. (if am right :)) In our home, the TV is as old as me.. Now I see small birds rounding your head as to how old I am. Am in my final year college (last month rather). And the highlight here is "Our TV has NO REMOTE" ha ha ha .. Ya, every time one likes to shift channels, they will have to go near and scroll the button near each channel !! No one can ever say we will become a "couch potato" in our home he he he he he he. Since, my granny is staying with us now, its always the MIL-DIL fights and the everyday soapy serials that will go on. I will silently come to my room and do my favorite browsing or reading. Or if its an evening, its always better to walk in the terrace with my mom !! And when my granny wants to shift on to some other channel to see who is fighting whom, or to catch up with the slag words, or to figure out who is whose relative, or to grin saying some character has been changed; I need to adjust the channel for her !!! ha h ah aha ha ha its always funny for me !! Till we get our remote or go in for an exchange :) Regards with Love RamyaVaradharajan |
