This blog is exclusively reserved for posting Thirukural - both in Tamil & English. It will also include an explanation of the Kurals in English for the benefit of all IL'ites visiting this space.
This is a collective work by a few IL'ites to share the knowledge of Thirukural amongst the IndusLadies Community.
We used to post '5 Kurals a day' earlier. In order to give more time for the readers to read it, absorb it and enrich this space with their comments, we have changed the frequency to a weekly blog posting of '10 Kurals a week'.
Hope you will all enjoy the Kurals. Do not forget to leave your comments on our effort.

Pariyinum aagaavaam paalala; uyithu
soriyinum pogaa dhama.
What we destined to get, will remain with us much against our wish, if it is otherwise, despite one's effort to retain it (the things), it will not remain with us.
Vaguthaan vagutha vagaiyallaal kodi
thoguthaarkkum thuyithal aridhu.
One cannot enjoy his amassed wealth, if he is not ordained to do so.
Thurapparman thuppuravu illaar urarpala
oottaa kazhiyum yenin.
The destitute cannot hope for renunciation, if he is destined to go through his share of miseries.
Nanraangaal nallavaa kaanbavar anraangaal
allarpaduvadhu yevan?
One rejoices when good things happen but why do they fret when they encounter with evil?
Oozhi peruvali aavula? matronru
soozhinum thaanmun dhoorum.
What is mightier than Fate? It will overtake us, even if we have other plans to overcome it.
