326. கொல்லாமை மேற்கொண்டு ஒழுகுவான் வாழ்நாள்மேல்
செல்லாது உயிருண்ணும் கூற்று
Kollaamai merkkondu ozhuguvaan vaazhnaalmel
Sellaadhu uyirunnum kootru.
The life of a man who abides by a vow of non-killing,
Shall not be haunted by the fear of death.
327. தன்னுயிர் நீப்பினும் செய்யற்க தான்பிறிது
இன்னுயிர் நீக்கும் வினை
Thannuyir neepinum seyyarkka thaanpiridhu
Innuyir neekkum vinai.
Do not take away from any living thing life that is sweet,
Even if it needs to be done to save that of your own.
328.நன்றாகும் ஆக்கம் பெரிதெனினும் சான்றோர்க்குக்
கொன்றாகும் ஆக்கம் கடை
Nanraagum aakkam peridheninum saandrorkku
Kondraagum aakkam kadai
Though it may bestow one with many good things,
The wise would despise any gain won by slaying a life.
329.கொலைவினையர் ஆகிய மாக்கள் புலைவினையர்
புன்மை தெரிவார் அகத்து
Kolayvinayar aagiya maakkal pulayvinayar
Punmai therivaar agathu
Those who make their living by killing
Are considered to be the worse kind of scum.
330. உயிர்உடம்பின் நீக்கியார் என்ப செயிர்உடம்பின்
செல்லாத்தீ வாழ்க்கை யவர்
Uyirudambin neekkiyaar enba seyirudambin
Sellaathee vaazhkai avar
Those whose lives are wasted in misery and pain
Are those who have, previously, taken the life of others.
