Against Killing.
321. அறவினை யாதெனில் கொல்லாமை கோறல்
பிறவினை எல்லாம் தரும்
Aravinai yaadhenin kollaamai koral
Piravinai ellam tharum
The greatest of virtues is not to kill;
Killing shall bring with it all that is evil.
322. பகுத்துண்டு பல்லுயிர் ஓம்புதல் நூலோர்
தொகுத்தவற்றுள் எல்லாம் தலை
Paguthundu pal uyir ombudhal noolor
Thoguthavatrul ellaam thalai
Sharing a meal with the needy, and protecting other lives,
Stand foremost among the virtues laid down by the wise.
323. ஒன்றாக நல்லது கொல்லாமை மற்றுஅதன்
பின்சாரப் பொய்யாமை நன்று
Ondraaga nalladhu kollaamai matru adhan
Pinsaarap poyyaamai nandru
The virtue that is unparalleled is not – killing;
That which follows second, is truthfulness.
324. நல்லாறு எனப்படுவது யாதெனின் யாதொன்றும்
கொல்லாமை சூழும் நெறி
Nallaaru enappaduvathu yaadhenin yaadhondrum
Kollaamai soozhum neri
The path of righteousness is that which is chosen,
By those who always abstain from killing a life.
325. நிலைஅஞ்சி நீத்தாருள் எல்லாம் கொலைஅஞ்சிக்
கொல்லாமை சூழ்வான் தலை
Nilayanji neethaarul ellam kolayanji
Kollaamai soozhvaan thalai
The greatest among the men who have renounced desire,
are those who, fearing guilt, avoid the destruction of life.

 |  killing,murder-is something too brutal.A person with a normal mind will not commit it.Abnormal mind and situation leads to murder.Laws and punishment does not stop few from doing this act. |
