This blog is exclusively reserved for posting Thirukural - both in Tamil & English. It will also include an explanation of the Kurals in English for the benefit of all IL'ites visiting this space.
This is a collective work by a few IL'ites to share the knowledge of Thirukural amongst the IndusLadies Community.
We used to post '5 Kurals a day' earlier. In order to give more time for the readers to read it, absorb it and enrich this space with their comments, we have changed the frequency to a weekly blog posting of '10 Kurals a week'.
Hope you will all enjoy the Kurals. Do not forget to leave your comments on our effort.

FORBEARANCE

agazhvaarai thaangum nilampola thammai
igazhvaarai poruthal thalai.
Just as Mother Earth is patient with those who dig her (i.e.,the land).we should also be patient with those people who taunt us..
poruthal irappinai yenrum; adhanai
marathal adhaninum nanru.
Forgive always the injuries inflicted upon us, but to forget them is even better..
inmaiyul inmai virunthoraal; vanmaiyul
vanmai madavaar porai.
Refusal of hospitality is worse than the poverty itself , likewise forbearance of the dull-headed fools is the greatest strength. (which means absence of forbearance is equal to absolute poverty)
niraiyudaimai neengaamai vendin poraiyudaimai
pottri ozhuga padum.
If you want to remain great always, cultivate with patience the habit of forgiving other's misgivings.
oruthaarai onraaga vaiyaarae; vaippar
poruthaarai ponnpol podhindhu.
The wise, ignore those who retaliate an injury, but value the actions ( as gold) of those who forgive their enemies.
