66. குழலினிது யாழினிது என்ப; தம் மக்கள்
மழலைச்சொல் கேளா தவர்.
kuzhalinidhu yaazhinidhu yenba; tham makkal
mazhalaichol kelaadhavar.

புல்லாங்குழலின் இசையும், யாழின் இசையும் இனிது என்பர் மழலைச் சொல் கேளாதவர்.
Those who didn't hear their children's baby talk, would claim ' flute is sweet, and lute is sweet.'..

67. தந்தை மகற்காற்றும் நன்றி அவையத்து
முந்தி இருப்ப செயல்.
thandai magarkaatrum nanri avaiyathu
mundhi iruppa seyal.

அறிவுடையோர் சபையில் தன் மகனை மேம்பட செய்வதே தந்தை மகனுக்காற்றும் உதவி.
Duty of the father is to make his children excel in the midst of the learned.

68. தம்மின்தம் மக்கள் அறிவுடைமை மாநிலத்து
மன்னுயிர்க் கெல்லாம் இனிது.
thammintham makkal arivudaimai maanilathu
mannuyir kellam inidhu.

தன் மக்களின் அறிவுடைமையை மற்றவர் புகழக் கேட்பது, பெற்றவர்களுக்கு மகிழ்ச்சி தரும்.

69. ஈன்ற பொழுதின் பெரிதுவக்கும் தன்மகனை
சான்றோன் எனக்கேட்ட தாய்.
eenra pozhudhin peridhuvakkum thanmaganai
saanroon yenakketta thaai.

ஒரு தாய், தன் மகனை ஈன்ற பொழுது இருந்த மகிழ்ச்சியைக் காட்டிலும், மற்றவர் அவனை நல்லொழுக்கம் உடையவன், அறிவுடையோன் என பாராட்டுதலைக் கேட்கும்பொழுது பெருமகிழ்ச்சி அடைகிறாள்.
The mother is more joyous when she hears that her son is a learned and a noble person than when he was born.

70. மகன்தந்தைக்கு ஆற்றும் உதவி இவன்தந்தை
என்நோற்றான் கொல்எனும் சொல்.
maganthandaikku aattrum udavi ivanthandai
yenottraan kolyenum sol.

மகன் தந்தைக்கு செய்யும் உதவி, பிறர் இவனைப் பார்த்து, இவனை ஈன்றேடுத்தவர்
என்ன தவம் செய்தனரோ, இந்த மகனைப் பெற.என புகழும்படி இருத்தல் வேண்டும்..

Duty of the son lies in those words of the world --where they ask, what austerities did his parents do to get a son like him.
