hi all,
Life has taught us lot of things...we have been shocked, had our quota of fun, and also impressed and impacted from the everyday news...The panchantra stories to the chicken soup to the today's real life stories...

Even a Snake takes chances..why dont we...?

Fortune sides with him who dares.” It’s a clever way of saying good fortune doesn’t come to us; we go to it by taking risks..
So we are used to staying in comfort zones, that we don't want to move out to take any chance...even a snake has to shed its skin, even though it is painful, to grow..so do we.
The word risk itself is abhored by many...but there is nothing achieved without taking an risk. Even when I laugh whole heartedly, I am taking the risk to appear as a fool to someone. When i cry, i am leaving myself open, to allow others to know what an emotional stupid i am. When i show my feelings, i risk showing the true self for future hurts from others. When i talk about my dreams, goals i risk to lose them to others. When I love somebody, I am taking the risk of not being loved in return. Life is all about taking risks.
And we willingly take chances every day without even knowing for example, when i drive on the road i am taking the risk of knowing there could be a accident...
The moment i think about life, it is a risk i take against death. when I try again and again, I risk failure. But I have to take the risk,or else life without any risk is nothing.
Because the moment a person does not risk anything, he is nothing and has nothing. Self Sacrifice is easier than Self-Realisation. To Realise, self, you have to take the risk of analysing yourself..
As long as a human being worries about when he will die, and what he has that is his, all of his works in life are zero.
That does not mean, you plunge into deep waters, without at least having a float..
A person who has been successful in life, would have taken a chance to achieve that success.
So what do you think.....

| | Great blog and risky subject too ..dearest Shanthi.. I am thrilled you took the risk of writing this as I am enjoying it sooo much.. When I attend temple pujas and sing bhajans or other songs I sometimes get emotional and cry..I take a risk at that moment to be more one with God at the risk of bring thought a fat crying slob.. It gives greater pleasure to enjoy the God thru his divine music and bhajans sung with pure joy and adoration..I take a risk not to gossip with many other ladies I know who do that as a daily or hourly habit..so I risk not having "friends".. I risk telling the truth which is almost always unpleasant..so I risk being called names.. I risk being labelled boring and dull so I can spend my evening hours athome in the company of my dear family.. This is one risk I will never hesitate to take..thanks so much for blogging on this super topic and your lead post is wonderful..I did take a risk by replying because even I can see mine is not as good as yours..its o.k risk by me since i enjoy reading yours.. |

| | Dear Shanvy That was a thought provoking piece.I too admit your pt of view. One day or the other we are going to die,why should we keep mum and waste life time without a try.Even in this trial and error, there is some limitations I mean stepping in knowing good and bad.We can try infinite times for a good proposal but not even a single ,if our conscience says that to be bad.Alexander a great battler won the battle only bcos of his valour. |

| | hey AC let me join the clubThanks for putting in a word here and making me feel better for writing on this subject... I being a silent observer, have been labelled arrogant, but i still take the risk of being called so...for not wanting to fall into unwanted gossip.. even called dull and .....but don't mind at all. I risk closing/drawing a line, around my family risking being called possessive. being a kelvignanam, look at the risk i am taking to write a music blog.... |

| | Ah, what a nice one Shanthi! You prompted me to think about areas where I am not risking enough. Good exercise for me I think the underlying fear in not taking a calculated risk is the fear of failure. You are correct, by fearing failure we are actually risking tasting success. Though there are some people who don't care as much for the gain knowing the risks invovled. I guess they are content with whatever they get given their low risk tendeny. Good for them! Like they say, risk and gains are directly proportional to each other. True. SS |

| | SS, Thanks for stepping in. We are content in the comfort zone, that we fail to even look at the opportunities that come our way... |

| | Hi Shanti, I did write a comment for this earlier and it got ost in the server problem, so Iam here again. I love to take chances and sometimes not all appreciate it. That is because to take a chance you need tha courage, otherwise you miss learning from it. Whether you take chances or not you get labelled in some way, how long to go on doing things to please others, I rather not be good to all and unhappy. Sometimes when the outcome is good then I pat myself otherwise also I take the blame so what is wrong in taking the road less travelled, if you reach the destination? Lovely Blog!!!!!!! |
