Easy tomato pickle

Though i cannot prepare maavadu or mangai inji pickles in USA,i would always like to prepare pickles from what and all we get here. I have a belief that home made pickles have special importance because of their hygenic preparation,as well as avoiding old stock pickles from indian shops and the their chilli powder used in the pickle,may create health problems also..i can give east tomato pickle here.
Ingredients:
Ripe tomatoes - 1 1/2 kilogram(when u try to prepare with little number...

ideas to keep pickles fresh

hi friends,
my cousin was always telling me that she could not prepare pickles in right way! she is in US. she used to tell me that either the taste is not coming good or the pickle is getting fungus formation. i followed some tips which i want to share with you all
1. whenever u prepare pickles keep it in mind that except mango pickles like avakkai,plain mangai,we should use heated oil(not plain oil directly from can,heat oil and add to pickles if u need) to avoid pickles getting spoiled....

one small alteration in ginger pickle

sorry ladies,i forgot to mention to add salt in ginger pickle! add the salt after adding the shredded ginger in the hot oil and fry till it gets separated from oil

Ginger Pickle

I tasted Ginger Pickle from one mami's house when i was in mylapore ! wow! mouth watering taste! immediately asked for recipe and tried out ! u can prepare ginger pickle in small amount b'cos i really don't know how long we can store because i ate the pickle and finished by 3-4 weeks. The recipes that i am giving can be prepared in USA,there is no need that we should sun dry the limes and all(see lime pickle)

Ginger - one big chunk
salt- as required
mustard and fenugreek...

mangai thokku

I bought 5 green mangoes from H-Mart and prepared thokku.
ingredients
green mangoes - 5
mustard seeds - one tablespoon and half tablespoon to dry fry and powder
fenugreek seeds - one teaspoon and half teaspoon to dry fry and powder
chiili powder - as required
turmeric powder - one teaspoon
salt - as required
oil - as required
note : always there should be a coating of oil(already heated) above the pickle so that the pickle won't get spoiled...
