The summer camp that transformed me
Posted 9th July 2008 at 07:16 AM by RamyaVaradharajan
I attended a summer course for three days at Sundaram buildings (Gream ways station) on "Indian Culture and spirituality". I wanted to share my experience of the same; but let me start with the schedule and slowly proceed towards the topics !!
When I shared with my friends at college, they called me "Jnana pazham"
(true fruit of wisdom, but in tamil slang as if teasing me). But truly speaking, I felt that a break like that was essential to break the monotony of life !!!
DAY I
Morning Session:
(1) Talk by Justice Prabha Sridevan
(2) An interactive session by Mrs. Vimala on “Love and Service”
(3) Yoga session by Dr.S. Hema
(4) Learnt Durga Suktham (Veda chanting)
Afternoon Session:
(1) Group discussion on “How spirituality is related to and/or distinct from religion?”
(2) Listened to Swami’s speech on “Indhriyas and their importance and usage”
(3) Bhajan singing
DAY II
Morning Session:
(1) Yoga practice with Dr.S.Hema’s guidance and assistance
(2) Bhajan singing
(3) Talk by Mrs.Subulakshmi on “Spirituality in modern civilization”
(4) Talk on “Spirituality in Leadership”
(5) Group discussion:
(I) any incident that had occurred in your life and how do you feel that incident could have been handled by you in case you had a Guru by your side
(II) a leader who has had an effective impact on you
(III) Why does spirituality need a leader?
Afternoon Session:
(1) Continuation of Swami’s sppech on “Indhriyas”
(2) Bhajan singing
(3) Documentary video
(I) Sai in Prashanthi
(II) On Evolution
(4) Games
(I) The “I” game
(II) Tall tales
(III) Dumb charades on Swami’s sayings
(IV) Multiples of nine and Sairam game
(5) Durga Suktham completion
DAY III
Morning Session:
(1) Bhajan singing
(2) Talk by Smt.Hemamani on “Acupressure and Rekhi”
(3) Talk by Mrs. Vasumathi on “Spiritual enfoldment in Sai mission”
(4) Talk by Mrs.Sai Saraswathi on “Spirituality in day to day activities”
(5) Completion of Swami’s discourse on “Indhriyas”
Evening Session:
(1) Durga Suktham chanting
(2) Drama on stage
(3) Yoga practice session
(4) Written test on the three days activities and prize distribution
Am very happy to share with my friends here that my script for the Drama was selected as the best !! :) We were given a few minutes time to prepare and we were a group of eleven people. Likewise about four groups !!!

| | Dearest Srini ma'am, That is very true. Frankly speaking, I inspired a handful of my friends at college and you know what was the improvement ?? I attended a similar summer course just before a few weeks. I proudly say, I was in the organising commitee and about five of my friends too attended and enjoyed like anything. That gave me real happiness. That I shared something valuable to people of my same age for some betterment !! My script was similar to my story "The distance between God and us is the distance between us and ourselves" :) Thats why I tried writing the same last week !! Thank you very much and heart felt congratulations too for winning the contest !! You very well deserved !! Love RamyaVaradharajan |

| | My lovely dearest Chithu sis, Thats so sweet of you !! Will definitely share what ever I experience and feel to share; not to share (as you all are well versed and better qualified than me) but to rectify and correct myself from the best ever platform that I had ever seen. Thank you so very much for always lending a supportive hand !!! Love RamyaVaradharajan |

| | Dearest Mals friend, Very aptly said. When we start to experience something at a very early stage, I guess the feeling lingers till our last breath. As experienced by the wiser and better generation (relating to our parents and grand parents), I have just started to sprout on the spiritual platform !! Thank you for your encouraging feedback !!
