Searching for things, a daily routine
“Hey, did you see my glasses?”
“Oh my God! How many times I told you to keep it in a particular place?”
“Yesterday you were also searching for your glasses. Didn’t I find it for you?”
“Oh, that happens once in a blue moon. But this is a daily recurring matter. I usually keep my glasses on the computer table or on the TV stand. Only when some one rings the door bell, I just remove my glasses and keep it somewhere handy, but forget because I keep it in a hurry.”
This happens very often in my house. I thought only due to old age my memory was failing me. But I learnt that even young people are searching for some thing or the other every day.
Dear ladies, has this ever happened to you? You open the fridge and then start wondering what you wanted from the fridge. Then you go back to the same place where the thought arose to recollect what you wanted from the fridge.
Things that are rarely used are stacked on the loft. When we need something from there we forget on which loft and in which box we kept it. To get over this forgetfulness I tell my sweet hubby to note down all the condemned items in a diary. But when we want some thing, the diary is not to be found!
We had a tenant in our house who was a young lady. Daily she would keep milk for boiling and it would overflow! Even then she would forget to attend to it! Then it would keep on boiling till the vessel becomes black. When I advised her to use a milk cooker, she told that her husband who comes home late at night would be disturbed by cooker’s whistling sound.
Searching for the cell phone and the hand set is a daily routine. Husband and wife accuse each other as to who spoke last and misplaced it. How many times you search pens for noting down a number though you keep buying dozens of pens? Handkerchiefs too are not to be found when we require one.

| | Pushpa Ma'am, I was laughing reading this. I thought such things happen only to me. Once I had my spectacles resting on my head and I went in search of it for several hours. When my husband came home for lunch, I asked him to help me in getting my spectacles and he pointed to my head. The fridge incident also takes place. |

| | you bet!Dear Pushpavalli, Glad you brought up this common problem. I have been very absent minded for a long time now. Though I am trying to improve, some times I still lose it....I too wonder why did I just come to the kitchen and open the fridge....and try to recollect... I use the reminders on my mobile phone for more important stuff and otherwise trying to sharpen my memory! Good one....:) Ranganayaki |

| | Dear PS madam, you must have passed on the street where my house is! This is the scene almost on, not daily, but hourly basis. I used to be a somewhat organised person before marriage. But after 21 years, I too have become very unorganised. Hubby msiplaces things always and it becomes my job (how I hate it) to search it for him. Otherwise he will misplace more things while searching and it will be harder for me. Son too follows his father in this trait, I am always searching for something or other. I don't know how many times I have chanted the Hanumar slokam while searching for things. I bet Hanumar is residing permanently in my house to help me search. He was lucky, he had to search only twice, once for Sita Devi and then for Sanjeevani plant. If he is to search in my home, he will hide himself. I wish that I am free of this duty, but God knows when that will be possible! |

| | So all are searching........ reading this, I got more energy to continue my searching . I used to tell my hubby that most of my time is spent for searching things that he has misplaced. When he is at home every now and then he orders a search and when he goes to office he continues to give searching orders through phone. |

| | Dear Pushpa, I regularly misplace one thing - and it is my Pancard. I do not know why do I misplace only my Pancard. May be I think it is an important card and keep it very safely. Last time I found it after 5 months. The photocopies helped me though. After finding it, I placed if very safely. Now for the past one month, i have again misplaced it. Racking my brains, where did I keep it!! Ha ha... |

| | Hi Pushpa: Yes, it is a daily routine and though we know the reason it happens. Everthing in it's place makes it easier but everything in a different place everytime makes it tough searching for it! Similar to opening fridge and wondering why i opened it, I wonder why I walked into a particular room. I call my children and forget what I had to tell them. Boiling milk - I have stopped doing other chores while the milk is on the stove - tired of making the black milkpans shine again! And then, passports and other such documents, I keep in a very apt place but forget where that very apt place was . That is very frustrating. My husband always insist that I make lists but who is to tell him that I will forget to look at my diary...hahaha. Sindhu |

| | Dear Varloo, Your reply is so hilarious, but I also pity you for the amount of time you are spending for searching things. Love, PS I don't know how many times I have chanted the Hanumar slokam while searching for things. I bet Hanumar is residing permanently in my house to help me search. He was lucky, he had to search only twice, once for Sita Devi and then for Sanjeevani plant. If he is to search in my home, he will hide himself. |

| | Dear Mals, We two keep important things safe and secure, but when we require them we turn the whole house in to a mess searching for them. Then we both blame each other! Some times it so happens that the thing we are searching for would be just in front, but we forget what we are searching for. ha ha ha! Love, PS |
