Talking a lot lately ??? - A page from Diary
Women talk a lot, especially when they are in relationship.
John Gray, author of 'Men are from Mars and Women from Venus' says they get over their worries by talking about them. Complex creatures and hence complex explanation.
It seems people who talk a lot "Like to hear themselves talk".
I am not spared from this wide spread illness / fortune. I wonder if I listen as much I should be.
Reading is different from listening. You just keep reading on and on. Even then, I have hyper-active thought processes amidst the wires in brain. This is a good sign, but I do wish, why not just sit and read what the reader or talker has to say and do the thinking later. This gets reflected in my reading speed too. Ok here is a link to check your reading speed.
Now that I am aware of this, I am trying to change.
Dear IL Bloggers what do you all think about this ?

Listening to others is an art
Dear vidya,
I was known to be a silent observer for more than 20 years of my life ...of course life, marriage and necessity has made me a talker...when necessary....
I am still a listener by nature...
I am voracious and fast reader by habit...so don't need to take the test....
but to listen to others, you need curb the urge to talk, and then be patient.
Do you know there are people who shut out and come back when they feel...is that selective listening not sure....

Dear Vidya (meenloch)
I like your blogs.. they are interesting.
I am a combo of both.. I listen and also talk lots.. but everything depends on the audience..
If it's my parents, inlaws, hubby & siblings they have no choice but be patient listeners but I am all ears when friends, other relatives and neighbours talk.
Regards

Shanvy, Honeybee and aruna,
thanks for dropping by.
@ Shanthi - I am working on my listening skills, but the obstacle is, I HAVE to say what I know already, otherwise I ll forget...I dont think what s the big deal if I forget in most cases. Once I get over this, I think I ll be a good listener. Count your blessings on your inherent skill to listn dear.
Honeybee I think that it's a good combo, if talking and listening is implemented in both scenarios. Thanks for complements about my blog lady !!!
Aruna, I was a slower reader too. I picked this book called 'How to read better and faster' by Norman Lewis. Trust me, I never turned back. My speed increased tremendously. it was change from 250 words per minute to 400 WPM. Do read it when u get time. I saw the change in myself even after reading half the book. He just hits the problems we face perfectly. I got valuable tips.Posted 13th January 2008 at 10:59 AM by MeenLoch
