It's a country where every thing has a low fat substitute, healthy or unhealthy the food item is low in fat, tasty or unbearable it's "fat free" slogan sells it in a big way. Although these products appear as an obvious choice to weight watchers, sometimes they psych us out.
Back in India, I will start a protest for adulterated milk or watered milk. Here,I pay for it, knowing that it s 70% water.
Looking at the food label has become a norm. The first thing is the saturated fat content ! Thanks to these labels that we make informed choices, but ironically when we go back home our friends and relatives find a plump version of us. The only key seems to lose weight or even maintain weight seems to eat what a cow or goat eats. Yes, I write that out of frustration, which comes even before dieting. A healthy and tasty food seems to be a dream. Although there are a couple of them which satisfy these criteria, u cannot eat them on a continuous basis. Besides, it s the women of our age who food attacks first . I end it with a positive note, that there is light at the end of the tunnel, but it's at the "end".

Meens, yours is a post of the hour or minute?

Not only the "saturated fat content !", we look out for "less cholestrol" or "cholestrol free" which is more preferable.
You must see how Oats is widely advertised in our Desi TVs !
We forget that basically we are less "manual" than our anccestors & have become more & more "gadget oriented" ! That is the crux of the problem.
When I am gulping down salads with lettuce etc, I imagin myself as an "adu mau" or equate myself to a rabbit ! Frustration & dieting forever go hand in hand. Oh, the woes of today's life !!
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Oh dear Piscean,

It is the country where they take out "double cheese" berger and a "diet" coke :) And they donot add 70% water, they remove all the fat from the "real" milk making it equivalent to white water ;) I gave up on dieting on day 0 since is not only frustrating but also makes you crave more. Just imagining about "aavi parakkara pappu mammu with shuda shuda ghee or even the evergreatest thachu mammu" while eating a bowl of "fresh" green salad, makes us crave for even the simple dishes a lot more ! I don't see dieting work for those who do it for just maintaining their weight and not for addressing any health reasons - especially those of us who know what good food tastes like ;) I would rather take those cals and burn them out ;)

    Chithu mam,
That sounds similar. Even if we exercise, we still need to watch diets. And when we do watch diets, it needs determination day in day out. I keep coming back to track. I wonder if there is any permanent solution at all. Skimmed milk, zero cookies or ice-cream, 30 mins exercise and lots of veggies do make a difference, but that's marginal..Glad you are a weight watcher too.

Gayu, u reminded me the pappu mammu and thachu mammmu.. Gonna attack it now..lunch time for me..hehe
Dieting leads to more craving. True..
Moderation is the key. I finished a kg of kaju katli in less than a week. That's my control level. Do not buy anything fatty nowadays. I am trying to accept my plump self meanwhile. No more weight that s all.
