Taking technology for granted - A dream
For past 3 days I have been missing my family back in India. There have been weddings, thread ceremonies one after another. I am blessed with a wonderful BIG family. I was wishing that with advanced technologies, what if I could be a part of ceremony at-least virtually.
With things like Wi-Fi (Something like mobile broadband) and high broadband speeds one should be able to transfer even videos. A live update of events. Video conference facility is given by many providers, but it s like Rs.25000 for an hour. Web-cams are good enough, but in my case, the festival is happening in one of Trichy's small towns, where internet is still not that ubiquitous.
One day what I am saying would be a reality. We ll all miss our home towns or our families less.

| | The technology is already there - one of my friends did a webcast of their wedding ( vrjustmarried.com I think). When is it going to reach everyone and be available broader - time has to answer. But don't you think, watching it happening in the cyber world, would rather make u miss being there even more ?? |

| | It would indeed be a great pleasure, ML..That would definitely help handling the missing part. If we talk to anybody regularly, that relaxes the situation and we don't feel missing them badly. The other technologies will be even more soothing, for sure. |

| | Oviya, Since the technology has given us so much, we want more, we can expect more. When you read current tech news, everything appears possible. Time is needed..That's all |

| | Gayu, I heard about this site from another friend too. They still maintain it online. I mean it s been 3 years since they got married. They share their data through this website with everyone arnd the globe. I wish the mobile broadband is cheap and affordable and is available to general public soon, specially in India |
