Since there was so much to write about this, I chose to write a blog instead of comment on my previous post.
One of the commenters opened a topic about some companies demanding western/professional decorum even in chennai. Fair enough given that companies are visited by foreign based clients and one has to be in an international setup than Indian. Fortunately most companies are ok wth Salwar Kameez as a formal attire. I really don't know what attraction people find for Americans. No other groups here abandons it's national, cultural or religious identity in US. For ex. Hispanics or Afro-Americans or Japanese even do not let their names to be mis-pronounced, whereas many Indians CHANGE their names happily ( Shri becomes Sherry, Krishna becomes Chris, ). I know these are easy to pronounce for americans, but people are so proud...
