Director Radhamohan always delights his audience with simple plots and excellent message. "Abhiyum Naanum" is no second to any of his movies.

It's about a father and daughter, their life and father's love and his possessiveness .

I was constantly reminded of the English movie "Father of the Bride" and sometimes I was thinking about my own life.

Several girls would have seen themselves in the place of the character "Abi". It infuses a fresh perspective in our still conservative society. And one feels like saying "Why not ?".

I was touched by the dialogue "You have to lead your life in your terms, that's not only your right, but your duty too". While this message seems obvious, it is still missing in many Indian houses and families.

When it comes to young adults or children, there is a thin line between stupid decisions made out of illusions and well thought decisions that comes out of maturity. How beautifully can parents embrace the good ones is what "Abiyum Naanum" about.

I would strongly recommend this movie for all those who see a loving father and daughter in their day to day life.

If you have not seen the trailer yet, here is it in youtube.

    Hai MeenLoch,

thanks for your FB abut Abiyum Naanum.

I think this film is the need of the hour. In our anxiety, we are spoiling the children by our strict instructions / or in some cases over affection. We have to balance our emotions and let children grow in their own way. We can be a guide in their decisions.

There is a famous say - "The children are not our products. We are not the manufacturers. They came to this world thru the parents. That is all".

    Hi vidya,

Saw the movie recently. It definitely reminded me of Father of the bride and another movie, a mixture of both..but the other name eludes me will come back once i remember..

most of the daughters are more attached to the fathers...
to talk about scenes would kill the feel of the movie...

but, i would say, there should be a limit to the possessive attachments of the father and the daughter too (though i was one, and i can see one in my daughter too.)

the possessiveness should not become a noose that the child wants to swear off later....

    Bujji,
I am sure you will be pleasantly entertained. Like I said, it's a different movie.

    Swathi,

Just being a guide is all role we can play..True indeed.

    Shanvy,
I got reminded of "My big fat Greek wedding" where there is a meeting of two cultures through the wedding.

Do you think possesiveness can be limited ? Like Prakashraj says, he grows up with his daughter in this regard.
