Captains Courageous

“Captains Courageous (1996)”-I happen to watch this movie through my cable service and thought of sharing some of my views from it.
This English Movie is based on a Novel written by Rudyard Kipling. The movie is based on a boy who learns his lessons of life and what makes him a serious,sensible young man in future. To tell about the author of the novel, he was born in Bombay, British India to British parents and he is the author of the famous “Jungle Book” series.

About the story, Harvey Cheyne Junior, second richest person in the world,a spoilt child, who takes life on his own way takes a cruise from England to Newyork. He falls into the sea,unnoticed by anyone in the cruise. He is being rescued by a fishermen crew and the Captain of that ship is Mathew Troop. This is the time where Harvey starts seeing the hard part of life. Initially he demands the crew to take him to New York for which he is ready to pay them any amount of $10000 or even $25000. But the fishermen in the crew refuse saying this is their best season of fishing and they would return back only after three months. The Captain of the ship Mathew Troop is a strict and fair person, who tells Harvey that he has to work, if he needs food and also promises him a salary of $10.50 per month for three months. Harvey has no other option but to agree for that.
Harvey starts to slowly learn the realties of life. The fisher men crew had four fishermen, the captain Mathew Troop and his Son Dan Troop. Harvey is asked to do all works like sail the ship, in turns. He is hesitant to do all works,fights with Dan Troop but soon catches his friendship. The Captain being a strict person does not like Harvey at all. Harvey, who slowly starts changing want to win the heart of the captain and Dan consoles him that he would soon be able to do that. Dan and Harvey decide to even enter into business partnership in future. At this time that the sad incident happens. Captain's Son Dan Troop dies one day while saving another crewman from the storm at the time of shipping. The Captain is shocked but his courageous heart overcomes the loss of his son.

The Ship returns home and information is sent to Harvey's guardians. They come rushing and ready to give any amount to the Captain as a gift. But he disagrees and gives $31.50 to Harvey as his salary. Harvey says that he wants to stay there with him, but the captain refuses and asks him to get back to school to complete his education. The Captain promises him that they could start partnership business in future.
The Guardians of Harvey are so astonished to see him as a sensible boy.
The film ends there leaving us many lessons. Courage, Hardwork, love and affection, tragedy all finds it apt place in this movie.
