"My dear friend,dad,mom,grandma,grandpa,......."

Have you recently wrote the above in a letter?
Do your postman handed over any handwritten letters except typed official letters?
Have you sat and wrote a letter to your lovable person, expressing all our feelings?
Does the concern person ever know your handwriting?
Have you ever relished with a hand written letters?
might be any of the above would have happen once in a blue moon.

Gestures,sand & rocks,dove,messenger with a leaf,letters,telephone,email's,sms's..I am afraid where it ends...
In this fast moving world we can't even wait for a reply and we are busy bee's revolving like a top!
In my childhood days I always used to worry since I don't have my aged children to share my letters..But I have the habit of writing letter to my Grandpa. My Grandma used to say "Nalini whenever he recieved your letter,he will turn into a child and get excited.Soon he will go to a nearby shop and started writing back to you"...Those words still make me happy.
Writing a letter have a great enjoyment in it.
We have to patiently wait for their reply and can read 'n' times,by sitting, while lying,by walking, can do stamp collections...but will the e-mail provide you all the above?
During deepavali and New year my dad used to send festival greetings to our kith and kins, but as soon as sms's heads off all those greeting sending business were packed up....
Instead of showing smiles through smilies why don't we really make them smile by our letters and give a work for the post-man?
Do any one really enjoyed the feeling of writing or reading letters?why dont you share?I am all ears to hear from you...

Great writing skills Nalini.. Thoroughly enjoyed reading all..You couldnt be more right about the writing letter, receiving it... replying and so on..ofcourse the postman paid an important role too...today we send a post card to near and dear ones when we travel.... i only "write" to my husband and son and a few close friends. ALL online via email only....i dont for a moment feel guilty.. mainly because time is a constraint..for me and more so for others...so I started to look at the matter that mean most...writing ..my husband is also busy but enjoys reading my "mail"...and "replies" by email.. i feel the same way like you describe in "real" wiritn and..real reply.. to me it makes sense to change with time or just change....keep blogin...love to "open" and "read" and "write" the "reply"....so keep writin....

    Nicely write up, Nalini!
When I came to US during the 1990s, the 'mail' played an important role in my life because i used to write letters to my parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins, etc.
I will be waiting for their replies eventhough it will take about one month or so.
But later on 'talking' over the phone took over and now the e-mail.
I think those days are gone, waiting for the postman to deliver the mail from our loved ones and also post the mails to our loved ones!
Still i keep the letters from my parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, as a treasure!
As long as you have contact and written by you--then e-mail is also acceptable!

    Hi Nalini,

The blue inland cover played an intresting role in the past. I loved writing letters...but now email is the most convenient one.

When I was in school, I started penfriendship with another schoolgirl in Delhi. I was in Dindigul(tamilnadu) then. We used to write so regulalry that the postman on the both ends knew our name .
Now is it about 17yrs and still we are in touch...but thru emails now. In between we have just met twice for about only 10mins each time.
But it was thru letters that we know about each other in and out.
Now it is thru emails that I have become a member of a big family ie, Indusladies.
    Thanx for the post... bye
