I am eager to express some tit bits I feel about Hollywood movies compare to Kollywood,Tollywood and Bollywood. As far as I am concern,my first choice would always opt for"Hollywood",the reason is they overhelm us in technical stuffs and best decent picturisation. But when we look back at Indian movies most of them contains only duets, sentiments and all sorts of blithering scenes
.We people accustomed to it.I do agree even our Indian film industry has excellent flicks and embodies succesful era, things are looking up once in a blue moon. What makes me blue is there are hardly few vigourous film to speak of technically. We still lagging back as mediocrites.I was once hilarious to watch Indian movies but when I tend to see clips were hero do all infantile idiotic gymnastisn and soul stirring teary dialogues forced me to watch the movies by grinding my teeth.Directors includes more misfits which are no way related to the film. After implementing all their works and spend their bucks in the film ,it any way punks.I feel embarrased to compare both the film industries.Adding innuedoes bonkplagiarising stories from different languages within the same country openly shows that we are incompotent to comeup with our own talents. We should have passion to reach the fame of hollywood .Western civilisation should repute us and all our film should be recognised for international awards. For that they should strive hard for perfection !!!!
What do you say Friends???
Come up with your best views and lets start debating....

Dear ish_nalini,
The only person with a fire in his belly to make films matching or bettering Hollywood movies is the one and only Kamala Haasan. His 'Kurudi Punal', 'Anbe Sivam', 'Nayagan' etc. are in this category. Of course Nayagan has been included in the best 100 films ever made by the Times magazine. There is much expectation of his forthcoming ' Dasavatharam' which I am sure going to be an unique film. There are others too like Mani Rathnam ( I wouldn't include Director Shnakar who makes masala movies using the latest techniques). Mani Rathnam's Roja is a class movie and recently A.R. Rehman has been felicitated for the music he has given in Roja by an University in U.S.

Nalini its interesting how you have put forward a case shall I say and you have given the prize to Hollywood. I am not the person to be commenting here since I rarely watch movies from India. In the U.S we watch selective movies, rating not greater than PG13. Have to agree that the technology is so advanced. Its worth the ticket. After approx. 20 years I recently saw the movie "Mozhi" taken in tamil. Our family enjoyed it so much. Even though technology was not put to great use the movie was well taken scripted and acting and all. So its sometimes difficult to compare if you are an avid movie goer but for people like me who select what to watch one end balances the other. or so it seems!???Posted 29th November 2007 at 02:35 PM by Anandchitra

hi nalini,
dont you think we are actually lucky to get the exposure of all the woods, even in america they may have to wait for ages to compare but here what we watch in star movies,HBO and other english channel show us the flaw in our indian movies where there is a remake, as we watch the lines and framework we know hey this is from so and so film and we get to compare and comment on flaws and what they could had done better, we speak of great IT works here still we are short the way how we use technology in films, a long way to go, but whistle we can like the front benchers or howl at their incapabilities...sunkanPosted 29th November 2007 at 11:04 PM by sunkan

Kollywood/Bollywood and all the other "woods" - the movies are just not worth it - Mozhi was a good movie that came recently - other than that - it is the same old routine. It reminds me of what my teenager once told me - this was when she was about 10 or so - "there are three kinds of movies - one, the siblings are separated at birth and find each other, two, boy falls in love with girl - parents oppose, and finally get married, three, wait, there are only two kinds!!' The movies are all about song and dance and a namesake of a story woven in between!
TDU - I am a fan of Kamalahasan - but dont you think he has had his share of lifting Hollywood themes for his movies too? Like "Mrs. Doubtfire" - I forget the name of the Tamil movie and then there was "Tenali" which was very similar to "What about Bob?" - even Anbe Sivam - I think was very similar to Trains, Planes, Automobiles.
Chithra - dont limit yourself to PG13 movies - there are a lot of R movies that are amazing.Posted 30th November 2007 at 09:07 PM by Shobanag

Dear AC,
I don't have the habit of frewuntly checking in in cinema theaters. My brother used tohave lots and lots of HW,BW,KW,TW collections.By seeing all those movies I recognised some of the best .You would have read the line "Once in a blue moon".I too agree that we have best movies like mozhi, kathal, paruthi veeran and all other movies which shows the real world.Posted 2nd December 2007 at 12:18 AM by ish_nalini
