Hair Care III

Growing hair is a very patient job. It takes at least three months to start seeing the results after you start to care for your hair.
It won't take very long for your hair to fall but to see it grow one has to have a lot of patience. But the end result will be the best you could ever have.
1. Look after your care nicely. You have to care for your hair . It should be clean, scrupulously squeaky clean. The hair should never feel greasy or sticky to the touch.
If you ever feel that your hair is sticky then you are late for your hair wash. You'll start seeing locks of hair on your comb. Oil massage and shampoo your hair before that happens.
2. Use mild herbal shampoos for that purpose. Make hair conditioner a habit or after bath when your hair is still damp apply a little oil on to your palms and just rub it into your hair. Finish off with the last rinse. Your hair will not have that dull look. It will shine with that little oil.
It is very very important that we take care of our diet. It should be nutritious , full of vitamins, calcium and proteins. Always add foods rich in proteins and calcium like milk and milk products, dry fruits and nuts, fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.
You have to drink fluids, so that your body is able to flush out the toxins and waste material regularly and clearly. Only if your body is healthy, you can have healthy glowing face and hair.
You have to minimize the use of heat on your hair. Unless necessary and unavoidable , do not use hair driers, curling irons or straightening rods. These things spoil your hair roots and make the hair dry and brittle. It'll get you split ends and that is the worst enemy of long hair.
You have to be very careful with these split ends. Trim them off now and then to maintain hair growth but then the growth will get slower but the hair will be healthy and thick.
Avoid tension, be relaxed at all times. Keep your calm, if need be, then meditate for sometime in the mornings to keep tension far. Get at least 8-9 hours sleep daily. If you look after your health well, your hair will also be healthy and will not give you any trouble.

hi latha,
thanks for a nice informative blog. my daughter is 12. she used have very thick and long hair. after coming back to chennai, the water is too hard, she is losing hair everyday.now the thickness has reduced. the length is the same.
i give her a oil massage with 3 oils-castor oil, olive and almond oil. and wrap it with hot towel..
and then use nyle/herbal essences...and wash it off.then oil it well the next day. hers is normal hair...
any suggestions for reducing the hair loss...Posted 31st December 2007 at 03:39 AM by Shanvy

Hi Shanthi,
Thanks.
Are you doing massage properly? It should be circular motions on her scalp, without pulling the hair or scratching it. Sometimes even Nyle is harsh, I have noticed.
Just see, if her hair gets very dry after shampoo use a milder one like Biotique for her hair.
In the winter it is usual to have a very dry scalp. So when you use warm water for her bath, it'll get drier. Apply a few drops of oil into the ends of hair, when it is moist after bath ( actually the bottom ends ) and comb well with a wide toothed comb or your fingers. It spreads nicely through out.
Has she got split ends? That's also one reason for hair loss. If there is just trim her hair every three months and apply oil to the bottom ends. The hair loss should stop. See that she gets all the nutrients ...Posted 31st December 2007 at 04:21 AM by Eljaype

Have you got her checked up for Hormones. Since she is 12 that can also be one of her problems Hormonal Imbalance??
There is a girl opposite to my house . After coming to chennai from kerala she had severe hair loss. They were blaming water at Pallavaram.. But later I came to know that her mother had Thyroid problem and she also had a little bit. But now that she had started taking Homeo medicines, her problem had come down and she has thick long hair as she used to have before.
So try out.. get her blood checked up for count( Hbc & wbc ) Just as a precaution... don't get upset with me for suggesting this.Posted 31st December 2007 at 09:14 PM by Eljaype
