Friendship is the proof that God exists!

I strongly believe that in the plan of God, a good, happy, lasting friendship is a touch of heaven on earth. With a good friend, there are more possibilities for joy and, also, we never cry alone ! It is a wonderful feeling to feel needed. There are many seemingly simple things in life which affect us deeply and we can talk about them only to a friend.
Our friends need not be perfect, but we need to admire each other beautifully and unconditionally. That is the beauty of friendship.
In my life, from an early age, friends have played an important role. I have had
"fair-weather" friends, "I know better than you” friends, "goodwill in spite of long silence" friends, "I am there whenever I need you" friends, “confused and
confusing ” friends, “understanding and reassuring” friends.
All of them have made me realise the worth of friendship. I believe it is rightly said that "relatives happen to you", but friends are chosen by you !
I, for one, believe that we have to contribute our best to nurture a friendship & never take friends for granted. I work from my end, to continue the friendship alive. I cherish them, love them & wish them the best in life. It is very easy to lose a friend in a trivial argument, but gaining a good one is not easy. I believe in working hard to be a worthy (true?) friend. I have a special bond with my friends. They are the rare people who ask me how I am and wait to hear the answer!
I share with them my greatest joys and deepest fears, confess my sins and persistent guilt, clarify my high hopes and perhaps most unspoken dreams.
Let us cultivate friends.
To have a friend is to make life easier and richer. A friend is a present that you give to yourself. But you can neither pick up nor purchase a friend. We cannot compel anyone to be our friend. We have to discover one. A true friend is discovered not by searching outside for a right person to be a friend, but by your growing to be the right person to deserve a friend. Let us first give and then receive from our friends - Caring, Trust, Understanding, Acceptance, Respect, Appreciation, Devotion, Admiration, Validation, Approval, Reassurance and Encouragement.
The more friends we have, the more beautiful the world becomes to us.
“Friends live more in melody than in harmony”
is a beautiful statement, paying tribute to friendship. My best friend brings out the best in me, always!
The following quote by Nancy Knowland, sums up the essence of friendship,
A friend is someone you want to be around when you feel like being by yourself.

 |  Wow Mami...what a way to describes friends........thats too the different types of friends that you had.... you are so right...relatives happen to us...but friends....we choose... I have been fortunate to have friends who have always comforted me...I think...I have mentioned earlier...that when I was in school...I loved having penfriends...started writin to a few of them...they were in different parts of India....Over the years I lost contact with a few...but there is one girl...with whom the contact is still there....its been more than 17yrs now...we have grown from kids to ladies "together" and the bond is so strong...We have met jsut twice for about 10 min each...but we know each other ,in and out...As you mentioned, we have been with each other...though physically in different place....in all the happy and sad moments in our life so far... The mode of communication has advanced to emails from that little blue inland cover.... And now IL has made me richer with so many friends....It really felt nice, when I received PMs welcoming me back after the vacation, couple of months back...I just pray  ...I remain a fortunate one in this ...forever.. |

| |  Dear Mami, A perfect one for the begining of the week end. Friendship is one which has made me turn 360 degrees. I owe my present to all my friends who have contributed in shaping my personality. I have friends whom I know literally from the cradle, college mates, schoolmates, etc. Some are there from almost 30 yrs. Some we do not keep in touch very regularly but anything important we know we are there for each other. I completely agree with you on this A true friend is discovered not by searching outside for a right person to be a friend, but by your growing to be the right person to deserve a friend.Very true........ But nowadays I see friendships do not last for years it is so shortlived. There is always an expectation too. Personally I feel that friendhip blooms out when we accept each other as they are rather than trying to change them according to our taste. |

| |  Chithu, super blog and well timed with Friendship day fast approaching!!Yes, Friends are really a boon.I have not had many friends, but have a close set of 2-3 people whom i talk till today and we get connected well.They are my school mates and during our wedding(2 of us married,one is about to in sept 0  ,DH's were surprised to know that we are school friends.I remember reading these lines somewhere, a friend asks how are you, but a true friend will ask, Whats wrong dear, i'm hear to listen with just the tone when they hear a word "hello" from us.How true?Very fortunate to get connected with so many friends here in IL and Wish all of them a "Happy Friendship day" in advance. | | Dear Chithra.. I couldnt agree more :) Good friendship can be a great support and comfort. That is why, they say that even spouse should be a friend first and then a spouse ! Also, a man is known by the company he keeps is another popular saying that emphasizes the need to have good quality friends. Like-minded friends are such a joy to be with. While a friend comes by one's choice, it is a choice one must exercise with utmost caution since bad friends can be a negative influence. | |  Very nice blog!Hi Chitra, This is a topic that has always touched my heart. Friends can pull you out from anywhere, any mood and at any time. I have a few of good friends whom I can count on all the time, I also have friends in good times only, whom I find to be nice to hang out with when I am happy, of course my expectations from them is less, but to share joy, they are always there. Of late my mom has become my best friend. Earlier she was my 'mom' only. Now shes my friend, philosopher and guide. She is an amazing lady who has undergone lot of tough times in life and come out with strong colors! She is independent , confident and easy going. Great blog Chitra, heartwarming! Purni |

Cant imagine a world withour Friends ..... I always treasure and cherish the friendship I am blessed with .... But it really hurts...if I dont get a reply from my friends when I mail them.....they blame on their workload...I think why can't they drop a sinlge line.... :( But whatever it is.....
