Perfectly imperfect!

We all know that though we are far from perfect, we love to pretend that we are the epitome of perfection! Anyone who knows us also knows that we are not.
Perfection is an attribute of the Divine and it is not given to humans!
When we are kids, we imagine that we can grow up perfect – but nothing can be far from truth. In our childhood, parents are protective of us, which makes us think, they are perfect. As we grow up, we realise that they are also human and their imperfection in many spheres is a painful revelation for us. We also realise that even if they are imperfect, they are worthy of our love.
When we grow up, we have a lurking fear that if we are not perfect, others will withdraw from us and abandon us! The fear of not being lovable, because of our imperfections, haunts us. But as we grow up, we realise that everybody, perfect in one way, is far from perfect in many other ways. This is a great consolation, in fact!
What are we going to do about that?
We are never going to be perfect and none of the people whom we thought were perfect, never were.
So, let us give up being perfect and accept ourselves as we are.
We need to love ourselves, warts and all.
We become lovable to others only by admitting our imperfections.
I love this quote:
Here, I am, flaws and all.
Waiting for nothing, giving my love!
Love,
Chithra

Chithmam,
An absolutely perfect topic...
Many want to believe and make believe others that they are epitome of perfection as you say..why?? is the fear of that the self recognisable flaws will be noted by others i wonder.
DD listens to this song by teen popstar Hannah Montana where she crooons...No body is perfect..everybody makes mistakes, you live and learn it..
Perfection is an illusion..it is always a moving target i feel.
Accepting myself along with my flaws..makes me one step towards becoming perfect ?? as my fear of perfection has gone out of the window??
Confusing??? I never claim to be perfect even if it is grammar

Hi Chitra Aunty
Your post reminded me of my 10th standard Maths teacher. She always used to say, "In the board exam, if you 98.5 it will be rounded off to 99. But if you get 99.5, it will still be 99 and not 100." When I questioned this logic, she said, "99.5 means that your's is not perfect paper. So you will not get 100".
Perfection is something we all look for ... we behave like task-masters and proclaim ourselves to be "perfect" ... we also look for perfection in everyone around us ... but at the end of the day, all of us have certain flaws ... we must learn to accept that and move on ...
