New is born of old!
Lamp may be new
But light is old!
You may not like the old lamp
But you need the light.
You may discover new lamps
But not new light!
There is no new light or old light.
The song is new but
Music is old.
Today’s lovers can only imitate
The good old Adam and Eve !
Lovers are new but
Love is forever the same.
The tears may be fresh but
Grief is old!
Feelings are old but
Experiences are new !
Every new dawn is
Brought by the same old sun!
The trees shed leaves but
Only to grow them again.
New blooms are seen in the
Midst of wilting leaves.
Your place is old for you
But new to one who comes for the first time.
What is old to the known
Is new to the unknown.
It is only the good old brain
That conceives new ideas!
You pass through a grave yard
On your way to buy a cradle.
You collect precious antiques
To decorate your brand new house.
Old is new of the Past
And new is the old of the Future!
Your quest for new
Encouraged you in life
But hurt you as well!
Love,
Chithra.
But light is old!
You may not like the old lamp
But you need the light.
You may discover new lamps
But not new light!
There is no new light or old light.
The song is new but
Music is old.
Today’s lovers can only imitate
The good old Adam and Eve !
Lovers are new but
Love is forever the same.
The tears may be fresh but
Grief is old!
Feelings are old but

| | Simply Superb Ma'am, How wonderfully penned ! The Chithra Ma'am forte. Yes Ma'am I loved the way you have termed the old as new. The examples are fantaulous. Let me just state my example .My mother has always been a loving woman.Love is an old emotion to my mother but when she loves my daughter the love sees new dimension. The rules of motherhood is the old one for me but for mummy it is a new phase. The light was always there in her life in the form of her children but the intensity has now a different enigma. The growth of my daughter is something new everyday though the concept of growth is old for me. Another recent one Ma'am, Patriotism is an old feeling but hearing the national anthem being played while Abhinav Bindhra won the first gold medal for India after 28 years brought out new joys of patriotism in me. Wonderfully written Ma'am , a splendid start for a new week. Love, Your Mol |

| | Mrs.C Just Superb ! One more example that came to mind The books are old, but how A person puts it to use is new. Music notations may be old How a person stirs the souls with them is new. Love |

| | Ende Priyappatta Mole, thanks for flagging offthe FBs after quite some time!! ![]() Sometimes whatever we think or conceive as new is old wine in a new bottle. You are right, a mother's love to her daughter acquires new dimensions when she interacts with her daughter's daughter! Here again, love is old, but still new. Chitvish is old But your love for her is new! Love, Chithra. |

| | I am glad, you loved this, Usha. Yes, We discard old magazines, but grab new magazines if they contain old articles reproduced. This is now happening with Ananda Vikatan. We love old songs, more, if the new musicians render them! Love, Chithra. |

| | Mami...Beautifully described the new ideas of old brain.. As Devika pointed out...the patriotism is old and so is the national anthem...but the feeling is new, when heard today.. Gold is old but joy in seeing it in the latest form is new...just as the gold medal today. Olympic games are old, but very edition of it is looked forward with new excitement... Your recipes maybe old...but for me its always new and new is the joy when I prepare it thinking of you, and new is my joy is giving my FB in that old thread, which is leaping forward everyday with new FBs |

Lovers are new but Love is forever the same. What is old to the known Is new to the unknown. Hahahahahahaha... Naughty... The concept is old, but the poem is new... Chitvish is old but her naughty ness is new... Lot more comes to my mind.... hahahahahaha... Now I dont want people to come with brick bats... Wife is old... but only the girl is new... | | Veda, your humour is just brimming with naughty ideas! Wife is old But the woman in her is new everyday! Husband is old But the man in him continues to be same old!! Now, Veda, correct yourself thus: Chithra is old Only the chitvish avatar is new!! Love, Chithra. |

| | Chithmam, your topic is great. when people understand what is new today will be old tomorrow there can be lot of betterment in life and society itself, isn't it and the vice versa, Everything old today is new to someone... May be there is a logic in a new bride keeping something old and something new during the wedding. The love for our kids takes new dimensions on occassions even when the kids are the same. Hmmm, loving the FB's. |

| | Dear Chithra What a beautiful post to enliven a Monday morning :) I am a strong believer of Old is Gold even if New is Novel ! Call it the weakness of human mind or the good memory skills that many of us are blessed with, things of the past are always there in our thoughts and there to guide us, make us contemplative, happy, sad - the entire gamut of emotions. There is always a special charm one gets when we see a historical building compared to a modern skyscraper, isnt it? It never ceases to amaze me that here in London, the old style buildings still are maintained well despite the modern buzzling city that is. I also get the same feeling when I visit some of the small town temples back home. The bigger, marble floored ones somehow do not evoke the same feeling!! I am sure there are many of us who, if given a chance, may want to travel back in time - may be to their childhood years or to their teen years etc etc etc ! Incidentally, this weekend, I started reading 'Paalangal' for the second time since I bought it early this year. The old world charm - how women lived in those days - gave me enough food for thought. There are a lot of good things that I am learning when I read about the characters - Pattamma's and Sivagamu's life events in the book. How active they were in managing household, cooking delicacies, conducting rituals, how mentally strong they were living in a joint family set-up and adapting to demanding situations etc etc. There is a certain beauty in their lifestyle and the generation of those times. Even if I become half as efficient as them in cooking especially, I will consider myself a great achiever..hahaha :) Very beautiful post....OLD IS GOLD Thanks and love Pavithra |

| | Superb blog...Loved all your verses..Yes, indeed Old is gold and new is creative! Anything which is out of fashion for a while comes out as a new fashion after sometime - happens with dress models right? Not only dress,be it anything.. a thing of past becomes a much hyped one in present!! Loved your lines and all the F.B's that followed. |

| | Shan, the old has a charm which we always adore... in many aspects of life. Though we love many many old things, we need their new avatars (only) in practical life! Your observation about kids is very true. The mischievous "old" kid becomes a "new" companion in our old age!! Love, Chithra. |

| | Yes, Pavi, I am one who loves old architecture and ancient buildings like you say. Old villages retain a charm which new Metros can never create. My favourite book is Palangal - we need palangal in our outlook to bridge the old and the new! I prefer stone floors in temple, old style, anyday than the granite and marble floors of the new generation present temples. Can't help saying - new Gods are also springing up though our loyalty to old ones cannot change! Love, Chithra. |

| | PS, you and I are the handful of oldies here, but should thank God that the new young ones have no hassel in rubbing shoulders with us! I am an oldie in IL, in both senses of the term! Love, Chithra. |

| | Aish Babes, when you write old is gold, what comes to my mind first is the dresses. At this rate, I will not be surprised if 9 yds saree becomes a "trend" in the next 10 years! I would even say that the "new" churidar is one variation of "old" madisar!! Love, Chithra. |

Your poem is a trendy, beautiful and new dimension to this (g)olden advice. The FBs are so lovely that I'm not satisfied reading these numbers and started waiting for more numbers.
