Updated 20th February 2008 at 01:42 AM by Chitvish We are familiar with the touch-me-not flowers. Usually Balsam, Jewelweed and Busy Lizzee are called by this name. When the seed pods mature, they "explode" when touched, sending seeds several meters away. But, the touch-me-nots I refer here are the so called "ultra sensitive" people ! I think they can be called "moody" as well. Or, is "brooding" their special quality, I wonder ! We all go through good, bad or indifferent moods, depending on the...

Feelings are the language of the heart and will be heard only when expressed. We need not be poets or great writers. But an endearment from a parent, spouse, child or a friend does give us a new lease of energy, as though! It destresses one completely and restores to us the feeling of being wanted, even if our mind is at its lowest ebb. I am very well aware, this is not a common...

Updated 20th February 2008 at 01:44 AM by Chitvish I am now a resident of Chennai, previously called Madras for the past forty plus years. There was a standard “Keeraikari” for every street – you could buy any variety of keerai for your asking !...

Updated 20th February 2008 at 01:45 AM by Chitvish (typo error) As Deepavali approaches, I tend to become nostalgic about the sweets and savouries made, when we were young. Those were the days of Mysorepak (note, not Mysorepa), Coconut burfi, Boondi laddu, wheat halwa, Somasi – well, the list is not long. We had not even heard of badushah in the 50’s. Jangiri was generally shop bought. Gulabjamun was scarce. My Appa’s North Indian friend used to send the same, but the shape was then oval and it used to look like a mini-sausage! The round gulabjamuns...

Updated 20th February 2008 at 01:45 AM by Chitvish Last August, I got a severe ham-string muscle pull. I was dismayed when it almost immobilized me, to start with. Then followed a visit to the doctor followed by x-rays, physiotherapy etc. Less activity resulted in more weight- not that I was ever light on my feet ! The inevitable reduction in weight was compulsorily prescribed. I tried to follow the G M diet, prescribed in our forum. I lost just a meager 1.5 kgs. Well, I ultimately consulted a dietician, with more apprehension and less hope....
