Counting my countless blessings!

Posted 8th November 2009 at 10:01 PM by Chitvish (My Twilight Thoughts, posted on Alternate Mondays.)
Updated 8th November 2009 at 10:02 PM by Chitvish

I am sixty plus and blessed with a reasonably good life so far. It is interesting to sit and reflect, how I was moulded by the people around me.

I was born in a middle class family in Madurai as the elder daughter of two girls.
My mother, as for most of us, was my ideal. She was & continues to be very good looking. I have always had a regret that I have not inherited her looks! She is a great cook and was very good at tailoring and all types of embroidery and handwork. She...

The first was that of my grandmothers. Both could just read and write their mother tongue. One of them had five children and the other a whopping twelve! But they took it in their stride and went about their lives happily, managing to feed all children and educate the boys reasonably well.
They lived without vehicles...

An Ode to my Alma Mater.

Posted 6th April 2008 at 09:29 PM by Chitvish (My Twilight Thoughts, posted on Alternate Mondays.)

This is my modest attempt to ruminate over and preserve the memory of my Alma Mater, American College in Madurai, as history.

School and college days are very special in one's life. Deep impressions are formed, as one is being moulded. These memories are precious possessions that supply happiness all along our life. In my pre-teens, while the concept of "going to college" was in the future tense, the "American college" had a mystique about it; passing through the...
