Photo Memories
Posted 29th October 2007 at 08:34 PM by Anandchitra
Photos have always been near and dear to me and consequently to my family. Almost all trips are marked by the completion of my Scrapbook Album. I just love to sit and arrange all the photos on each page and add background color and complete my journals on each picture. It is easy to add embellishments and make it more beautiful and eye catching. Our favorite family evening activities include a trip thru the scrapbook album. It delights our minds and hearts. It adds to our pleasure to share our albums with our friends and families.
One of the special moments for me is to see my husbands enthusiasm for my work in creating the scrapbook albums. On our trips he goes out of his way to take scenic pictures and is the first to run into any shop to see if there are scrapbook supplies. That is specially endearing to me. So it gives me greater pleasure when he sits and sees an album that I complete.
Todays digital world has ofcourse added a new dimenion to scrapbooking. I can do many online and can also order online and have friends view albums online. It is also a great time to sit with girlfriends and have a cropping session mostly through the night.
Memories are special when we look back in time maybe relive the moment our child was born or relive our marraige or that special vacation. It would be interesting to hear from all of you as to how you store your photos, photographs, digital images and as such how you preserve your memories.

| | I love browsing through my photo album very regularly, AC. It gives me great pleasure & happy memories. But I love black & white more ! If any photo catches my attention from my old albums, I immediately scan it & put it on the desktop. Recently, I put one of "just the four of us" taken as soon as Kumar, my son was born. My grandchildren literally fumed at that (since they were non-existent then!) & we had a good laugh. But when I go through my wedding album, I feel sad that almost 80 % of the people (including my appa) who are in the photo, are no more ! I have a "scary look" on my face, unlike the present day brides, who enjoy every moment. Well, those were the days !! Thanks for kindling memories ! Love, Chithra. |

| | dear AC, very nice article, yes as we browse we go through and live those moments for a second at least and some we linger on, in those days we never had video and and now when i watch those i see my husband running around in one of the occassion and he died just 40th day from that incident, and i do go sad on it, and yes the kids and dressing them up as madisar maami, and their birthday snaps and my fav uncle and aunt in the wedding snaps, and so many others and i think half a day can easily go looking at them..nice memories u flushed in me...sunkan |

| | Dear Ac, It was a nice write up. You know what I love to take lots of photographs; and like to keep looking back at them time to time. I think I have taken that from my father who is also like that. But untill last birthday I didnot own a camera of my own, though we had a film camera. Last birthday my husband got a digital camera for me and I am clicking clicking and clicking and creating online albums. I copy them into cds too and it has become a pass time for us to watch the cds whenever we all fell bored with the TV shows or with the work that we are doing. |

| | Dear Rajmi I can see how interesting that will be since you have 2 little ones too. I dont own a digital camera yet so i have to lug around my big film one around. It is so much easier with the digital camera considering size and you can delete unwanted very easily. |

| | Dear Chithra You also brought back memories of my wedding day. it seems like yesterday and feels like yesterday. coming feb it will be 24 years. except for my occassional body pain or leg pain i dont feel the time passing by so quickly. I n my wedding photos i look more like a shy bride which i was and did smile too not as much but definetly not scared. Talking about this subject makes me look thru more albums and I agree black and white has its charm. My husband has stock of this film and uses it at random. |

| | Capturing the digital memoriesHi AC, I love going through photo albums too.... The first thing my DH's family did after I was left with them on the 3rd day after our wedding was open all their albums and show them to me.... It was hundreds of pictures with explanations from MIL, FIL, SIL and a shy explanation here and there from DH... I was a bit terrified as I some how thought that I would have to answer a quiz later.... Anyway, five years later we have loads of snaps. But i still have not printed a single snap of my son... All his snaps till now have been captured on digital camera and stored in my laptop... recently I have been having nightmares of the laptop Hard drive crashing.... I have to atleast burn them on to CDs. I better get to it sooner .. as Shanthi says life comes at you fast... I find that the regular film cameras are better. My husband owns an SLR camera and the pictures taken with them are amazing. Of course you get great digital cameras but they are rather expensive! Regards Gayathri |

| | Dear Gayathri you make me laugh with the quiz line. I can imagine being newly married and all. You better transfer to cd;s ASAP. we only have an ordinary camera and an even ordinarier digital. I always made fun of my husbands digital camera as i thought it was good for nothing. it even has a crack line acroos front. anyways this tiny thing took the most amazing and impressive pictures on our recent trip that i had to eat my words. I only thanked god it was there at the right time and helped us out. You should try scrapbooking its soooo much fun and with a toddler thats the wy to go. |

| | I love going thru old photos but with technology these days everything is digital and though the pictures are stored I am afraid we will lose precious memories if the computer crashes or if we lose the disc. |

| | Everything is digital.. so its more easy.. not only can you have backups, there are so many softwares available to help you scrap, crop and make albums in a snap.. Infact with a Mac computer you just have to email it to their online location and they mail you a classy album all set to be stored! |
