Dear Varalotti sir,
Thank you so much for your lovely greetings. I saw it first thing in the morning and was very touched by it.Pardon me for not responding sooner, as I had a busy day and couldn't get to it until now.
In 2005, I had a strong urge to see Madurai Meenakshi amman and so that summer, we made a trip to Madurai. That was only my second trip to Madurai and I still cherish it.
I will try to describe my day, but it will seem like the cat trying to copy the tiger in front of your writing!
First, I called my mom and talked to her. Next, my DH and I headed off to our weekly chanting of Vishnu sahasranamam at the Hindu temple.Through the drive, my favorite song was playing on the CD. It is Ranjani Gayatri singing
katra kalviyum, veetra padaviyum, eetiya dhanamum, utra thunayum, petra magavum, chutri vizhum kaalan kayitrukku udavumo, tetri arula Sivanai ninai maname...
I can listen to that song daily and not get tired.
When I got home, my children had already planned on us going out to eat. They know I won't refuse today.
Then I went to a Speech and Debate award ceremony at a location clear across town. My younger son is one of the top debators. On the way back we attended a scintillating concert by Vishwa Mohan Bhat in the college campus.
DH and I had already taken a trip last weekend to Canyon de Chelly and Monument valley. Dh believes in giving birthday presents that he can also enjoy!
These are places where some western movies are filmed, one being Mckenna's gold. We took jeep tours down the canyons with a guide. It was the most peaceful encounter with mother Nature,away from the mad rush of the cities.In one of the lookout point, a well known Native American flutist was playing his soft music with the flute, which bounced on the sandstone canyon walls and caressed my soul.
I remembered to read you poem once more before the end of the day.
