The arrival of my firstborn daughther !!!!

Hi everyone.. im very happy to announce the birth of my daughter on 18th april 2008 at 10.55 am. We named her Sarisha which means charming in sanskrit. Sorry for the late posting coz was busy with the newborn.

Well would like to share my birth story with all of u especially those who are carrying for the first time. Although i dont post much in this site, but i regularly read the posting by all the members and get myself updated. In fact, reading other members experience helped me during my own labour.

The due date given by my gyn was on 29th Apr. So i was pretty relaxed thinking that i will deliver after my due date. But still i was fully prepared. Even my mum came over to stay with me 3 weeks before my due date.

On the 18th early morning at 3am i had one kind of uncomfortable pain. Since its my first preganancy i didnt know that it was contraction pain. It lasted every 40min once. I checked myself whether there is any symptoms like bleeding etc. But there was none. Then at 5.30am the pain was unbearable. The contraction was getting frequent and it lasted every 15 min. Woke my husband and mum. Took a hot shower and packed my clothes. My husband brought me to the hospital at 6.30am. When my gyn checked, i was already 6cm dilated n he confirmed that sure i will deliver by today. Both me and my husband were surprised coz i heard that dilation for first delivery would be very late. My gyn broke my waterbag himself at 8am. After breaking the waterbag, the contraction pain was unbearable and lasted every 5min. Luckily my husband was with me throughout the labour. He was holding my had tightly. He gave me extra strenght to bear the pain. At 10am i was already 9.5cm dilated and my gyn ask me to start pushing. After many attempts, the baby's head was out half way through and i couldnt push anymore coz didnt have strenght. My gyn had to use forcep. Once the head was out, then the whole body came out easily.

Me and husband (Siva) were extremely happy when we heard the first cry of our baby. My mum and MIL were waiting waiting anxiously outside the labour room to see their first grandchild.

Its already 22days since she is born. Sarisha is really a bundle of joy for both our family. Im enjoying every moment of motherhood although im sleepless nite with the baby.
