Madai Madai is a festival, which is popularly celebrated by an old tribal community known as Gonds. This festival is meant to meet relatives settled in the different villages throughout the state. It is also a time for purchasing yearlong provisions for the daily life. Respect is paid to the tribal Goddess by sacrificing a goat underneath the holy tree of the village. The nights during Madai are meant for unrestrained fun and merriment. The members of the tribe indulge in non-stop dancing and drinking. If you want to attend this festival and enjoy its true colors, you can visit Narayanpur in Bastar. |
