Arrow Proud to be a Bihari - Meet here

Namaste India!

Greetings to you all from the land of Gautam Buddha and Chandragupta. The land where civilization flourished and Buddha attained Nirvana. One of the most sophisticated educational centres since ancient India - Nalanda.

Biharis represent the most predominant working community in India. Its a matter of pride that Biharis choose to toil and sweat to earn money, than rather beg or sit for opportunities to come their way. They believe in making their own way when conditions are adverse.

Proud ladies from Bihar/Jharkhand Meet here!

Yes, I'm proud to represent Bihar - the land where karma is given preference over dharma. However, sometimes I'm anguished at the fate of the state of Bihar which in spite of having a historical lineage from Chandragupta to Gautam Buddha is quite indescriptive in contemporary history.

It is not that Biharis are not doing well, there are famous personalities from Bihar who have craved a distinguished place for themselves in India and abroad. However, it is a fact that the word 'Bihari' nonthelesses raises a few eyebrows the moment you mention it. Perhaps that is one of the many reasons why Bihari ladies in the forum are apprehensive of writing in this 'Proud to be a Bihari' thread. Who knows....

Can you prove me wrong? Look forward to your responses....

Thumbs up Re: Proud to be a Bihari - Meet here

Hi Ranjani, very well said. It is true 'Biharis are known to consider karma as their dharma'. That is perhaps why Biharis rule as the hard-working and most reliable working class who would survive by doing any work - big or small....rather than beg on the streets.

My nainihaal is in Bihar and I'm proud of my Bihari roots. And I invite more ILites with their Bihari roots settled in any part of the world to share their views on this.

Thanks.
Ashwini

I am settled in Patna for the last ten years. I Like your thread. Soon after taking over, one of the first statements of the present Chief Minister of Bihar Sh Nitish Kumar was that he will create a Bihar in which everyone is proud to call himself a Bihari.

Hello Amit Bhaiya, nice to have you in this forum. Rakhi ki Shubhkamnaye...
You have stayed in different parts of India, have you faced any problem due to your Bihari roots yet?

Please do share your thoughts.
