Wink Re: Where do you get Best Masala Dosas

I havent tried many hotels in Bangalore but for me two years back the best place to have dosas with the taste of Tamilnadu was Krishna Kafe in Koramanga just besided anand sweetrs and GK vale in the road which is a one way for people to drive from Koramangala police station to Koramangal BDA complex, just few metres from kormangala police station on the road which is perpendicular to the the road where the police station is located.

But I would also like to spare you a disclaimer, presently I dont find those old days to repeat as the level of service has come down and in afternoons never order for the tiffen dishes as they spare you the same sambar which they use to serve with rice dishes and every foodie like me never likes that taste as sambar made to serve with tiffen items as it has a different combination of the ingredients from what is made for to be served with rice...

Hello Pink,

Thank you so much for the information about Bhramin's cafe. Will go and try there and let you know. I regularly visit davangere benne which is in BSK. Too good. I heard BSK people supply Paddu chutney to natkallappa branch. Ultimate taste.

Hi
In Bangalore, masala doas are normally thick (0.3 mm) while in chennai they are made about 0.1mm thick. In my view, a masala dosa should be little thick (0.3 mm) to relish the same; otherwise it will not be different from paper dosa, but its variant. There are many restaurants and darshinis
by Udupi people which serve good masala dosas. Some of the top graded ones are as follows.
1. MTR: Located near Lalbagh north gate, near Urvashi theatre,
Serves high quality and hygienic items,
Uses high grade oil and serves with ghee
Dosas will be crisp but soft, almost no oil,
Waiting time can be avoided on prior booking,
Ambience: Simple but good, hygienic, comfortable
Cost: little on higher side

2 Udupi Krishna Bhavan (UKB): In Balepet ( part of K R Market)
Nearer to Majestic theatre.
Serves good quality dosas,
A good place too, confortable
Cost: affordable

3. Kamat : Group of hotels spread in Bangalore
Serves good dosas, crisp but not too thin
Taste is good. Ambience is good and comfortable.
Cost: slightly high

4. Vidyarthi Bhavan: In Gandhi Bazar
Good dosas, crisp, very oily,
Waiting time is considerable. Cost: affordable

5. Janata Hotel: Located in 8th cross Malleswaram
Serves good dosas, but oily
Waiting time is considerable if you go in the evenings

6. Sahyadri : A darshini, located at the junction of 9th cross and Margosa
Road, Malleswaram. Serves good dosas, can get done to
the specifications (to certain extent).

7. Adigas: A chain of darshinis spread across Bangalore.
Prepare good items. Dosas will be good. Affordable

Apart from these, there are many more hotels and darshinis in Bangalore
Like Brahmins Tiffen, Ganesh Darshan as mentioned, Hallimane, Sri Krishna Bhavan (Gopika) in Malleswaram, New Santi Sagar group or hotels and darshins etc.

I hope this helps.

My 2 cents
Kalyani
