Default Need help in planning a trip to Hampi

Dear ladies,

I will be really grateful if anyone can give me some info:

My in-laws ( both well above 65 yrs) are planning a trip to Hampi by themselves in January.

I am trying to get some practical info to help them plan their trip.

1) What can be a locational base? They will be coming from Poona/Bombay.
2) From the base, should they take a car or are there good tour operators?
3) How many days does a detailed Hampi tour take?

Please help me out with any info you have, no matter how small will be useful.

Thanks in advance
Vidya

Default Hampi Trip

Dear Vidya

Hampi is seven kilometers from Hospet, Bellary district.

How to reach Hospet :

1. By Air - Bombay to Bangalore or even Belgaum / Hubli
Taxi or Bus ( very frequent) from Bangalore to Hospet is seven hours, and from Belgaum is four hours.

2. By Train - Bombay to Hubli
Taxi or Bus from hubli to Hospet is two hours.

Best decent place to stay in Hospet is Hotel Mallige.
Conducted tour operators in minibus, big bus and car (taxi) from hotel available with guide. Quite cheap and time saving.

They can also see the famous ThungaBhadra dam and gardens in Hospet.

Most heritage and world famous place nearby is the ancient Badami and Aihole which is just one day return trip either by bus or car from hospet.
Ask them not to miss this.
There are good 4 star hotels available in Badami.
Badami to Hubli is again 3 hours by road, and train back to Bombay.

This is also the best time to visit these places.

Hope this helps and I'm sure they'll enjoy this trip.

Default Lakshmi Shobhane cassette/CD

Dear Indusladies in Karnataka,

Can any of you give me some info on Lakshmi Shobhane by Vadiraja Swamy? From what I read, I understand that it is very auspiscious to sing/listen to these songs daily and during functions.

Can you tell me which is a good cassette/CD to buy and are they easily available in karnataka?

Thanks
Vidya
