DPS East - Admission for next year

I enquired in DPS East regarding admission for the next academic year for my kids. My daughter is born in Aug2003 and they say she will be eligible only for 1st grade as she does not complete 7yrs by Jun2010. I do not want her to repeat a whole year(she is doing 1st grade in US now). So after some thought they said they will consider her for 2nd grade based on her performance in the entrance exam. How does this work ? How 'excellent' should the student perform, or is this some way of getting more donation ? And their entrance exam is supposed to be in December, so I am getting a little jittery as to how to perpare her in 2+ months ...

Hi rshivagami:

Normally DPS is quite strict about the DOB cut off. I am quite surprised that they agreed to give a test. Having said that, there are several schools which take <6 year old in first grade. So maybe they really want to check your child's capability.

Don't get worried - would suggest you prepare your daughter for Year 1 CBSE syllabus. That should be enough.

Do you know how difficult is the admission in DPS East - this being a relatively new branch is it as popular as the established ones ?

Hi rshivagami:

Do not know about the school. But last year, when we were checking availability in DPS south, they asked to go to DPS East since seats were available there, it being a relatively new school.

All I can say is that, there will be certain standard that the school will maintain being a DPS school - may take a few years for it to establish itself.
