Being a new dad!

    Although a man learns what it means to be a dad from his own father, I guess it is not until the birth of his baby that he starts the most important journey of his lifetime, building a relationship with his new son or daughter.

    Yes, I have become a father recently and this time has been a rollercoaster of emotions.

    I sometimes experience an overabundance of joy, love, fear and hope and this has been the way for the last 30 days. This is like nothing I have ever experienced. I was not anticipating the wave of euphoria I have been experiencing. It will wear off, I am sure.

    Even though I read many books and get advice from other fathers, I feel and realise that this is going to be a life long learning! My father told me, the day my son was born, that I was about to set off on a wonderful voyage of discovery with a smile on his face. I am sure it is going to be so :)

    Congrats to you , your wife for becoming parents and to the family.

    Nothing, no amount of reading, advices can prepare you for your own personal roller coaster ride. you learn parenting and being a adult responsible for somebody else, being a better human being on the journey...
