I am not very well-versed in the scriptures, but what I have gleaned from the Internet is this :

Shayan is also a Sanskrit word - meaning dusk or twilight.

It is also a derivative of a synonym for Lord Vishnu, 'Pannagashayan' where Pannaga refers to Adisesha, the Divine Serpent.
