    Priya,
Not sure if it has already been told, but this is what helped my kid -
Tulsi + beetle leaves boiled in water. Add little honey(I didn't use honey) ..and a pinch of salt. Strain and make her drink the warm concoction.

pls don't mention priya 09. We 've gone thru' all this, we know the apathy of a mom. So, it's just sharing our experience. Somebody shared their experiences and we're passing it thru' IL.

    :hiyaHi everyone,

Thanks so much for this thread... Actually my DS was having cough, phlegm and cold for around 20 days... we took him to his pedia...n, he gave him zyrtec and Zinnat but even after 7 days it was not gone... thn we again took him... this time he gave augmentin and Actifed for cold and wet cough syrup, this also continued for 7 days but no use....:drowning

thn i started home remedies.:idea.. thn i came across this thread and I started him on onion juice with honey while going to bed ...

This was miracle.... Alhamdulillah it was gone within 3 to 4 days...

    Dear all,
With my 6 month old, i use the following recipe. It works wonders.
    Ginger juice with honey.

Peel ginger skin (1 inch piece)
wash well and pound it using mortar and pestle.
using hand squeeze it and extract juice in a cup.
Let it sit for a sometime (may be 20 - 30 min).
There will be sediment at the bottom of the cup.
Use only the juice from the top. Do not use the sediment. That will cause stomach ache in babies.
Mix few drops of ginger with honey and give it to the baby.
Amount of ginger depends on the spice level of ginger. Dont make it too spicy. Taste it before you give to the baby ( i always do that)

Baby will cry because of the spice, but it is ok.
They immediately spit out flum and this relieves congestion.
    repeat it 2 - 3 times a day for 3 days.
remember ginger is heat for the body, so repeat it as required.

Make sure the baby is fed a little before you give any medication.
Their stomach is very sensitive and will irritate with any medicine (be it natural)

You can also put your finger to their throat when bathing them. That will make them vommit out the flum. I have seen that relieves their congestion and gives them sleep. Again, make sure baby has some food when you do this. The food along with flum comes out without irritating their throats.

I know it sounds really tough. It is not. I have done this multiple times with my 6 mon old. She was suffering for a long time and these helped relieve congestion quickly.

Hope it helps. Send if you have any questions.
