Hi,
Didn't want to start a separate thread, so hope some of you can help me. Am finding very difficult to give spicy food to my son. He is nearly 9 -- but still even rasam / sambar , I'm making without even a bit of chilly , as pepper little amount he can tolerate. So, even masala vadai, chutneys, avial, biryani etc. is mild and hubby is not able to relish ; esp. non veg. will be good only with a bit of chilly , otherwise chicken 65, kurma etc. are so bland .....
Young age he had lactose intolerance, so only mild food was recommended ; but that habit is there till today, what to do ???
Hope it is not too late to change his habits , as even eating out has become a problem now .
Thanks.

Hi Anupama,

As for the Kichidi to be in that consistency, instead of the Kichidi dhall use the small sized payatham puruppu/gram dhall which is a bit costly. For the rice instead of using the regular 1:3 water use 1:4.5. Pressure cook both the items separately for close to 4 or 5 whistles. Then after removing it, in a hard bottom vessel, melt a table spoon ghee, then add half a glass water and add the rice and dhall slowly and cook it in a slow flame untill the water gets absorbed. Add a pinch of salt and the cooked Vegetables. This will give the consistency you ask for.

Try it out and pls give your feedback pls

Kurinji,

I can understand your problem. Though my daughter was not like that and still not like that when taking certain foods like Pani Puri or Bhel Puri, but if I make something at home that is a bit spicy she is unable to eat that.

The solution I found was to make her eat with her friends when she is at home. Slowly she is now having them and not saying no to spicy stuff. But let us see

Hi friends

My last post was around june or july and i've been very busy since - one of the reasons is because my twins that used to eat well are not eating anything since the chikenpox in june. I hope is due to the hot weather here in portugal and that in october things get better. I'm worried because now they say they don't like some things that they were used to eat. It is like their apetite has decreased. Is it common for 3 years old children?
Today they had:
cherios for breakfast
pumkin and quinoa soup ; egg fritatta and fruit for lunch
some milk in the afternoon
same pumkin and quinoa soup; banana and custard (they refused our curry and rice)
thanks

I did not post for long as the kids were having their regular food. But things took a sudden change in the last few days and here is what they started liking.

Onion Thogayal
Pudina Chutney
Pav Baaji
Garlic Bread

So now let me tell you what they had:

Elder daughter:
breakfast - A bowl of Oats Porridge (1/2 an hour after a cup of boost)
Lunch - Idly smeared with a little ghee and Pudina Chutney
Snacks -Gokulashtami snacks
Evening tiffin and dinner yet to come

Son:
Breakfast Oats followed by Boost
by 11 Idly
by afternoon a cup of milk and two slices of bread. and a slice of plain cake
