Thanks, Vanathi.

Hey sad111, tell us about yourself? How old is your kid?

Krishnamma, thanks for your reply. I somehow missed reading it!!! When you say pre boiled rice, is it like boiled rice? HOw can I dry fry it? YOur rice kanji recipe looks easy, and I can find barley here.

Hi Raj,

No problem. Pre boiled rice means ' புழுங்கல் அரிசி '. I think you know Tamil. Or otherwise you can use the rice which you use for making idly. ok ? this is the best food for baby below 1 year.

Hi Raj,

Till this date I have not tried any other rice for this purpose. Boiled rice means it will digest easily. So we use that. If you want, you can try in Basmati rice. But very little quantity.
One important thing, when you are trying a new food to your baby please note that, at a time you are introducing only one dish. So that you can find out good and bad effects of that particular dish. This will help you in future to continue with that or not. Ok? Try and give me a feed back.
Another one important thing is taste the dish before you feed it to your baby. I used to taste all including cough syrup

Krishnaamma, about tasting - I have to tell you, I always taste her food, too, just out of curiosity. I gave Riya pureed broccoli... i didn't like it. but she did. I guess it's because she doesn't have her taste buds developed or know any better yet.

I think I'll wait to buy par boiled rice and then make the recipe, I don't want to try basmati, and like you said what if it's hard to digest for Riya.

Thanks
Raj

Hi,

my baby is very bad in eating. she is 6 months old and hardly takes 10 ozs of formula milk per day, and will not eat anything else. I checked with my pedi and they advised to ignore as she is quite active. But this is disturbing me a lot as she looks very thin ( she is infact underweight) and I keep thinking that this may effect her digestive system later. Please someone kindly advise me a good startup food for my kid. One thing which I shouldnt have done is getting her used to the suger. Now she nither takes anything with suger, nor without suger.

Please help .............
