Default small question

hi all

I am from chicago, i am new to this indusladies, and also i am new mom. i have a doubt, can i give my 6 month old son regural (vit-D - whole milk) which we normally drink.

I am worried because he is drinking formula 24 oz daily and i am giving solids 2 time in a day, he is not gaining weight, other than weight he is excellent in every activity and he is reaching all his mile stones properly.

Hi,

we should not give whole milk under 1yr kids...doctors usually advice to wait till 1yr.
if he is active , think he is healthy...start giving him cooked and mashed veggies ...

Hi Hsumguy,
Welcome to IL! Like skavi pointed out laready whole milk is not advised as a formula substitute for children younger than 1 year. Formula actually contains more calories per ml than whole milk so if weight gain is your aim you would do better to give formula. A 6 mnth old doesnt usually need more than 1-2 solid meals a day. What solids are you giving? What is your LO's weight? What ws the birth weight? Is your pedi concerned about poor weight gain?

Vanathi.
