Unhappy How to give egg yolk to infants

Dear All,

My son is running into 11 th month but his teething process hasnt started as of now.I introduced him egg yolk last month & he liked it but it was so much dried in consistency that I had to mash it with milk .He took it for 3-4 days but started refusing it afterwards.
Now I want to reintroduce it.Today I again gave him mashed yolk with milk but he didnt take even a single bite.I think he dsnt like the taste of mashed egg with milk.

Pls let me know how do u moms give egg to ur Lil ones?
Thanks in advance,

HI monica...

boil the egg and give the yolk of it... its easy to eat... give it along with the food so it wont be dried too much..

else u can make egg puddings...

take 2 glass of milk boil it nicely so that it becomes 1 glass.. let the milk warm nicely... now add one beaten egg to that... add sugar for taste... to get a nice smell u can add little cardamon powder...(normally we used to add vanilla essence) sine ur kid is 11 months cardamon powder... in a bowl add little ghee and pour this mix... steam it in a pressure cooker...

try it...

I boil eggs and give the yolk mashed up in rice (along with dal/rasam). Nowadays I also give white so I make scrambled eggs with cheese/French toast - Aadhu likes them all. I tried custard twice and he hated it so I've decided to try that later.

Vanathi.

Monica - I'm moving this to the Baby/Kids food forum.

Thumbs up Re: How to give egg yolk to infants

Dear Vanathi & Vahee,

Thanks for your advices.Today I just separated egg yolk from its white part & made an omellate of yolk & Micky just loved it like anything but I will be giving it with his rice/khichdi only as suggested by Vanathi so that he may get maximum nutrients out of it.
I cant make egg pudding coz Micky is still on lactose free soya formula.
Vanathi,u know na Micky has suffred frm diarrhea for around 2 months & he developed secondary lactose intolerance.I tried to give him 1 feed (5 oz)of normal milk(buffalos milk)around 1.5 month back for 3 days.He was ok for 1st 2 days but on 3rd day he passed motion with lot of gas that was not at all normal.I immediately stopped his normal milk.
I have heard that some lactase tablets /drops are available in the market for such kids. Are they really effective? Can i restart his normal milk now?
I am not sure if its a primary lactose intolarance/seconday coz he was suffering from severe reflux since his birth even when he was on breastfeed but it was immediately stopped as soon as Dr prescribed Zerolac to him? What do u think.

Pls guide me coz Zerolac is really an expensive milk substitute in India & soon he s going to b of 1 year & i want him to grow like a normal kid.Although he is doing well with Zerolac, banana & khichdi .He weighs 9.8 Kgs while birth weight was 2.6 Kgs.
Thanks,
Monica

Question hi Vanathi & Vahee-how to feed egg yolk

Hi Vanathi & Vahee & other Moms,

I have been trying to give egg yolk to my son for 4 days with his rice/Upma.He dsnt like it much & I have to feed him his khichdi a bit forcefully which is otherwise his favourite food.Yesterday,he did not even eat his rice when I mixed it with egg but today I gave him plain daal rice with Ghee & he liked it alot.

Can I make an omellate of egg yolk & give it to him .He really loves it & starts crying 0nce it is finished.
One more queries is there,Micky has not developed a singl tooth yet.I still run his khichdi /rice in mixie but he dsnt like the taste much.I have tried to make rice with more water & mash it with spoon but still hes not able to eat it properly & sumtime start spitting it out.what should I do?

Thanks in advance,
Monica

HI monica..

u can give egg yolk as omelete... if he likes to eat no issues... mixing with food is only for the kids who dont eat yolk ...

as u said some kids wont like the food taste if we grind in the mixie... so the other option is wht said overcook , smash it and feed...

spitting will be thr but keep feeding only thing dont force them too much...

Monica - Sure you can make omlettes or anything else with eggs too. As for mashing food a 11 mnth old can very easily eat regular food with no additional mashing, teeth or no teeth. Even if he has teeth the back teeth (molars) wont come in until after 1 year usually so they will in any case use the gums for chewing. slowly stop mashing his food - increase the coarseness step-by-step so that he eats normal food in another month or so. Definitely stop running things through the mixie now or you will have trouble getting him to accept solids later on.

Vanathi.
