Default Ragi Kanji

Hi Sonu,

I tried this and my baby eats this. I add 1 tablespoon of kanji powder and dilute it as thin as possible with water and boil it well for 10 mins and add sugar and milk and let it boil for 2 mins and let it cool and give it to baby and she will like it. Thought of sharing with you.

Default Apple And Carrot Soup With Potatoes

APPLE AND CARROT SOUP WITH POTATOES

Rich in energy and vitamin A, this soup is a "solid" meal which will make baby feel satisfied. You will notice that she won't be hungry very quickly after she has "dined" on this one.
As your baby approaches the 6th month, you can start adding ingredients like onions that have a strong flavour to improve the taste. You can add a dash of salt and pepper to this soup after your baby is 6 months old.

Ingredients
1/4 cup apple, peeled and chopped
2 tablespoons carrot, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup potato,peeled and chopped
1 tablespoon onion , chopped
1/2 teaspoon oil

Method

1. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker and saute the onion for 2 minutes .

2. Add the apple, carrot and potato and saute' for 2 to 3 minutes.

3. Add 1 cup of water and pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles.

4. Cool and pure'e in a liquidiser.

5. Strain and re-heat ro lukewarm before serving.

Default Dal Mash

DAL MASH

Dal mash is a good supplementary meal to meet your baby's increased demands of energy and proteins. Begin with a simple dal mash and later on add vegetables to it. After 6 months of age, you can add a dash of pepper and a few drops of lemon juice to enhance its flavour.

Ingredients
2 tablespoons yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
1/4 cup carrot, peeled and chopped
2 to 3 french beans, stringed and finely chopped

Method

1. Pressure cook all the ingredients together with ˝ cup of water for 3 whistles.

2. Liquidise the mixture in a blender. Serve lukewarm.

Default Plum And Banana Puree

PLUM AND BANANA PUREE

Sharp or acidic fruits like plums are not easily accepted by babies. But these fruits provide plenty of vitamin C and should be included in their diet. Adding some mashed banana tones down the sharpness of the plums and keeps both baby and you happy.

Ingredients
3 ripe plums, peeled and deseeded
1 banana, peeled and deseeded
1 to 2 teaspoons sugar (optional)

Method

1. Combine all the ingredients, blend in liquidiser and serve immediately.

Default Foods for the 6 to 9 month old baby

Hello Everybody

Our son is going to be 6 months old. He is majorly depending on breast feed. However, have started giving him Cerelac (once during day time) + Lactogen (Once during evening). From this month onwards, we are planning to give him semisolilds + other nutritius food one by one. Would request interesting suggestions and tips on this regard from my Indusladies friends. Please note that we are vegetarians. But Egg related recipes can be suggested.

Thanks & Regards

Lakshmi & Vinoth
