Default Re: Foods for the 6 to 9 month old baby

i have a reciepe from my grandma
1. rice :1 cup
2. fried gram : 1/4 cup
3.jaggery or sugar to taste.

fry the rice and powder the rice and grams together and can be stored .to prepare food mix the powder with water to thin syrup and boil it for few minutes it will become jelly like .
we can also add smashed banana, cooked carrots or orange juice to give variety of flavours ,to our baby it will be really safe and healthy .when compared with ready made baby food

Hi -
Can anyone recommed a source for ragi in the US? I have looked in the Indian store but cannot find anything. I have a 9 month old boy and I am hoping to give him some ragi. I don't have a source to bring any from India.
thank you

Ayesha,

if she refuses give a break and try after some time. I wouldn't recommend giving a citrus fruit (even though the doc says so). It can be too acidic for a baby's tummy. normally the first fruits for babies are banana, cooked and pureed apple, pear. if you have started to give fruits only recently then the baby will take only 1 tsp in the beginning and then progress intake.
